Free Music Notes for Top of the World TourFree Music Review: Chicks Rock Hit: 5 Stars
I really agree with the main review on here that the Chicks are country's last hope to move them forward so it's a shame that country couldn't stand behind them with all that Bush drama. They only just pushed away the only mainstream country act that hasn't abandoned its country roots for a more pop sound. The insert states that these tracks are live and not studio altered and that's a good thing. You get Natalie at her rawest and not polished and that's how a live CD should be. They don't forget any of their classics and combine a nice inclusion of newer and older lesser known ones. I particularly enjoyed the inclusion of the Sheryl Crow covered Bob Dylan penned "Mississippi". There's your new song! So country music think twice about ditching the Chicks cause it's your loss, not theirs!
Free Music Review: Dixie Chicks On Top of the World Hit: 5 Stars
I don't care what anyone says, but the Dixie Chicks rock. And it will be sad if we let their beliefs (or anyone's beliefs) from preventing them from greatest. After saying that, let me just say that this is one of the best live album I have ever heard. A collection of their biggest hits from their previous 3 albums, this cd shines BRIGHTLY. Not only do these girls ROCK, but you can hear the passion in their voices and the way they play. You can feel the energy of the fans and it really inspires you. This double cd makes you feel like you are at an actual show. Also there are great pics that goes along with this release. I almost missed this cd, because they are not promoting it. Most people don't even know about it. But don't let that prevent you from buying this cd. Can't wait for a new album.
Free Music Review: The Dixie Chicks have made history Hit: 5 Stars
The Dixie Chicks recording of the Top of the World Tour is truly amazing. This live CD is full of energy and bliss. This CD has easily made the Dixie Chicks my favorite band of all time; this CD puts me in a whole different place every time I listen to it. I can't even describe what this CD does to you, it's just so breathe taking. The music is flawless, the lyrics full of heart and the crowd as energetic as possible. From songs of Dixie Chicks politics like Truth No. 2 to Bob Dylan's cover of Mississippi to the fun of Sin Wagon and Some Days You Gotta Dance, to the emotions of Travellin' Soldier. The Chicks put every great song they've ever sang on these 2 disc set and the result is incredible. Every song is timeless and moving. The Dixie Chicks have made history.
Free Music Review: Enigmatic Trio Hit: 5 Stars
This is a wonderful CD to have if you are a fan of the Dixie Chicks. They have a wonderful energy on stage, which translates well onto this live CD. A lot of people say the arrangements are the same and it sounds just the same as their studio albums, but I disagree. There's a passion and emotion here not found on their albums, something different. They sing all their hits. Highlights include "A Home", "Landslide", "Cowboy Take Me Away", "Wide Open Spaces", "Mississippi", "There's Your Trouble", "Goodbye Earl", and many more. It would have been nice to hear hits like "I Can Love You Better", "Without You" and "You Were Mine", but this is still a great collection to own.
Free Music Review: Extremely Surprised Hit: 5 Stars
I'm not a country music fan. Never have been. And admittedly, I bought this CD for purely political reasons, to support Gaines' freedom of speech. But I was blown away. I got chills. I didn't realize how talented these chicks were due to my simple close-mindedness to country music. Shame on me. I enjoy the versatility, attitude and pure musical talent of this collection. Travelin' Soldier hit a little too close to home, as my soldier continues to write that he will be home soon. But I am perked up by beats that I can't help moving to. Anyone who can appreciate raw talent, emotional lyrics, and strong female vocals who don't sing around a note for 10 minutes before they hit it, buy this album. The Chicks haven't left my stereo since I bought it.
