Free Music Review: Okay, but...

I guess this cd could be categorized as roots rock. It has roots in blues, country, and miriad rock styles which derive from these. The music is not bad but not really anything special. I am a big fan of CCR and Johm Fogherty and when I purchased this disk I was hoping for a similar feeling.
Dollar Store sounds kind of like the name implies, okay but somewhat substandard.
The songs and the lyrics make me think that the band is a joke band, porodying CCR rather than playing music from the heart. The other thing which really annoys me is the singer's voice. It is whining and nasal again causing me to think that he is doing a parody of country singers rather than attempting anything serious. It is like a roots rock Spinal Tap. If this sort of thing appeals to you, you might enjoy this cd. If not, and you are looking for more serious Americana roots music, get anything and everything you can by the Brandos.
In my opinion, Dollar Store are geeks playing nerdy tunes who have accepted their position as losers and hope that you will like them. Again, if you like CCR, check out the Brandos, they are awesome.
