Free Music Notes for No Baggage AlbumFree Music Review: Um, no Hit: 2 Stars
As someone to whom music is a very important part of life, I try to respect other people's differing opinions about music. But this is sooooooo not a five star album. There is some good stuff here, certainly, but I'd say at least half the songs are musically mediocre, annoyingly repetitive, and really, really terrible lyrically. In fact, though I think only a handful of the songs are musically interesting, it's the lyrics that just ruin it for me. The hokey, repetitive, trying-way-too-hard-to-rhyme songwriting sounds more like a talentless mainstream band than an artist who has proven herself to have a lot of talent. Lines like "Alcohol and cocaine, I think it's driving you insane" have me frequently thinking "oh no she didn't". Oh, and the album art is hideous. Oh, and some moments in the album sound "borrowed" from other artists. (Especially "Fly Through", which reminds me of a song by Jem.) I was a semi-fan of Dolores through the Cranberries years, but it's safe to say I'm officially over her.
