Free Music Review: Who Invited Yew?

This is the TRUE "B!tchin" album if you ask me. From The lyrics, The music, The topics they discuss on this album to Brett's stronger vocals just have more attitude and come off as B!tchy in comparison to anything else they've ever done.
This album defines the word, Think of the songs on this release in comparison to what's on the actual "B!tchin'" album. "Who Invited You?", "Too Bad About Your Girl", "I Don't Care (So There)", "Take Me To The Backseat", "Take It Off", "It's On The Rocks". It's all pure aggression with lots of demand and just B!TCHing.
"Midnight Snack" from the album prior to "Spend The Night" which was "Turn 21" would not have been out of place on this album at all, it would have fit perfectly, "Midnight Snack"? > "Spend The Night"?, It's really nothing to think about. Of course they'd have to record it in a "Spend the Night" manner before it would fit just right, though, And the fired up bassline and riffs along with brett's deeper tone would go off!, Okay back to the review.
I love the broader tone in the vocals on this album unlike the ones prior. Anderson sounds much older, more mature and edgier than she ever has before.
She sounds like a bully on this album and she just rocks out on it!.
The music itself sounds boosted and more loaded unlike the earlier albums.
This is where it all started for The Donnas if you ask me, With this record. All the others were practice records.
The lyrics on "Spend The Night" come off freestyled and random as if she's singing off the top of her head. I believe that's what they were going for with this album "It has a more punk effect".
The way the songs are arranged doesn't sound like they were pre-meditated or looked over before recording.
Another thing i've noticed is that Brett slurs on some of the songs as if she's high or intoxicated. Maybe the songs were written on a night they were all high, Which also might explain the random-styled-lyrics, I noticed this in contrast to all the other Donnas Records.
With all that I described these are the reasons I appreciate this album. These are the things that make "Spend The Night" it's very own record. "Who Invited You?!" "Please Don't Tease" "Not The One" & the Bonus track "Mama's Boy" are some of the best tracks on the album, Just to name a few. "Spend The Night" is the bands most popular album with lead single "Take It Off".

European vinyl edition of the punk-pop quartet's 2002 album includes the Europe/Japan bonus track, 'Big Rig'. Lookout!In 1999 the Donnas reached the age where they could Get Skintight. Then the racy foursome went on to Turn 21 in 2001. And for 2002, theirs is either an invitation or an offer to Spend the Night. And it'll be a whopper of a night. "It's on the Rocks" opens the evening on an anthemic note. The stoner paean "Pass It Around" appears just past midpoint, and "5 O'Clock in the Morning" closes the event. What's in between? Straight-ahead drumbeats, snarling guitars, and sassy vocals are the band's calling cards, and they're all very much in evidence here. Songs like "Take It Off" and "Please Don't Tease" are built upon bouncing melodies that are revved by choppy pop-punk guitar and simple rhymes ("tease" and "knees," for example). The Donnas' party--"Take Me to the Backseat" included--doesn't rage so much as it embraces a kind of postpunk free love that swaggers like the Ramones circa "Rockaway Beach." --Andrew Bartlett
