Christmas is my favorite time of year. I have a large assortment of holiday music, but a handful of truly meaningful CD's. Donny has captured the heart of Christmas in this CD. He has brought alive why we celebrate. While the entire CD is quite good, Mary did you know is powerful. It'll touch you to the very core. Many people tend to pass off Donny Osmond as just the handsome loooking teen idol( along with his sister Marie) in the mid seventies, but many do not realize just how incredible a singer Osmond is. His whole family sings, but Donny has the best vocie of the bunch by far. He has a voice that rivals almost all of the male singers we have today ( he is over 40). He also had a hit in the late eighties, toured with a broadway show( Joseph) and then went on to have a successful yet short lived talk show in the nineties with his sister. He is still recording and co-hosts Entertainment Tonight. Longevity in the business is a hard thing to accomplish!
This particular cd is filled with great music for the holidays and showcases Donny's talent for vocal finesse and accuracy. He is known for how picky he is about everything her records.
This Christmas Cd is really geared to those who are tired of just carols and want new songs.....he does them well and the arrangements are modern- lush and sometimes complex, but very enjoyable to listen to.
My only criticism would be that the cd really needed more traditional holiday carols and favorites. Donny would benefit from having a large studio orchestra back him up when he does his next Christmas recording. His voice is really that good.
People are recording holidays cds nowadays with more nostalgia and are really going for timeless production values. Because this cd was recorded about 7 years ago-----it is showing its age in the style department a little. Christmas songs are timeless, but the way in which things are arranged can still date any project.
It is a great buy and nobody would go wrong with the purchase of this cd. If you like Donny's voice, buy it! His voice is timeless.

The holiday music is very enjoyable but I purchased this CD to download to my IPOD and it will not download to iTunes and you cannot burn a CD from it.
