Free Music Review: A delightful salute to broadway!!

Hooray! for Donny Osmond's new CD "This is the Moment" This is no bubble gum or typical pop CD. When I first heard songs from this CD, I was not familiar with most of the Broadway shows and the songs they came from except for "you've got a friend in me from Toy Story. Donny sings this wonderful song as a duet with Rosie ODonald. I really enjoyed the playfulness they put on this song especially the end where Rosie says to Donny, I remember you from my Tiger Beat days and how she hung his poster on her wall. Donny was so tickled by Rosie's comment that he put it at the end of the song which makes for a fun ending. I also am impressed by the richness that Donny Osmond brings to songs like"Solla Sollew" from "Seussiccal which is a slow and moving melody which Donny sings with such emotion and the up beat tempo of "It's Possible" also from Seussical which makes you want to sway to the music right along with him. As for "Luck Be A Lady" From Guys and Dolls, Donny puts his own classic spin on it giving it the respect it deserves. Donny stamps his own signature on this song but he still gives it that Sinatra flair which old blue eyes would be proud of if he were alive to hear it. The title track "This is the moment makes you want to applaud and say Donny Osmond, this is your moment. He sings this song with such honesty and passion. As for the other cuts "Seasons of love","Our kind of love", "I know the truth","At the edge of the world" "Immortality" and Not while I'm around a duet with Vanessa Williams, are all sung with such spirit and emotion that you will want to go and see each of the plays the songs are from. After hearing this CD, if you were not a fan of broadway show tunes, you will be. The broadway community should be proud to have Donny Osmond represent them musically. This is a classic compilation of rich music for all ages to enjoy.Free Music Review: Pure Emotion

I am no expert...I have never been to a broadway musical...I am not a music major...I have no credentials... but to broadway fans, qualified critics and armchair singers...this may seem apparent. I can't sing...i can't even impress at karaoke. If I was on American idol, Simon would die laughing. I am not even a Donny Osmond look-alike...and I can't even believe I bought this cd! Yet, I am so happy I did. For heavens sakes I just purchased the new Tommy Lee disc! however, I can say this...hearing these songs fron Donny Osmond impresses me beyond any expectation. This cd elicits emotion! Real emotion. For this alone I have to give this cd a 5 star rating. When a so called "macho" grown man finds himself emotional over most of these songs, that says something. Moreover, this cd I feel is so good that I am not ashamed to admit the fact that this cd is truly great! Sure, much credit goes to the songwriters...such as Elton and rice... the Bee Gees, Andrew Lloyd Weber, Stephen Sondheim, Whelan, Flaherty,Loesser,steinman, Cohan, Newman, Wildhorn, Bricusse,Larson,Steinman and the wordsmiths. How could one go wrong with songs written by these forementioned geniuses. Donny Osmond may not be everyones choice for this disc, but after one listen I knew this cd would be a winner. Donny osmond may not be everyones favorite, however, I believe that he was flowing with flawless emotion and sincere persistence when he sang these songs. Yea, there are better singers...Yet i don't think if someone who one would expect to pull these songs off would have the same charm. Donny...Thank you!Free Music Review: Pure Emotion

Okay, I admit it... I grew up idolizing Donny Osmond and declaring purple as my favorite color just because of him. While I have witnessed his career's highs and lows, and wondered at times if he would fade into oblivion and just become a sweet memory of my adolescent years, that is not the case. Simply put, the MAN has talent. So, fellow music listeners, if you are stuck on his teen hearthrob image, FORGET IT AND GIVE THIS CD a chance. His voice is smooth and heartfelt, and he is not afraid to do something different to these Broadway tunes. Even if you were never a fan and scoffed at his earlier image, this CD deserves a chance. You will be pleasantly surprised. I have played it for several friends and relatives ranging in age from 64 to 13, and they all enjoyed it. Making dinner for your date? Get some candlelight, wine, and Donny's CD. The songs are warm and crisp. "It's Possible" is my favorite with its pop/calypso beat while "Seasons of Love" should be an Adult Contemporary hit with its catchy words and gliding beat. His duet with Vanessa Williams is first class; another performer who doesn't always get the crdit she deserves. The only song I did not care for was"Give my regrds to Broadway."
