Free Music Notes for Essential RaritiesFree Music Review: Another Essential Doors Album Hit: 5 Stars
I picked this up because i love the Doors and am always happy to add to the collection (and 'cause it was on sale). All 15 songs have a uniqueness of their own, the guitars and booming drums have a definite Doors way of seducing your ears. The wild "The End" is sung in Jim's husky poetic voice, and his humour helps you enjoy the song even more. I feel that "Hello to the cities" was a wise, if not cute choice for the first song on the album. This makes you feel like you'd give anything to have to have been able to witness one or two or all of these live performances. Yet this collection makes you a part of the Doors legacy.
Free Music Review: The Doors Essential Rarities, and interisting mix of songs Hit: 5 Stars
This album was originally only availble with the 1999 doors box set but now you can buy it sepratley. Its a good album for any Doors fan wanting to hear of some of there rare songs. The two most interesting songs on this album are the two 1965 demos on here, moonlight drive, and hello i love you. These two demos sound more like blues and really are an early version of The Doors. Other must haves on this album are really every track on here. The Soft Parade is another cool song on here. All in all this album is essential for any doors fan around, and for 20 bucks your money is well spent.
Free Music Review: Nice gems Hit: 5 Stars
Listening to it now. So when that box set comes out, with a disc of rarities, here's one instance where waiting matters. Thank you for releasing this extra bit for fans who already have all the other albums. I wouldn't have bought the box set just for it, but sell it separately, and I'm more than game. It's all great... the closest thing I'll get to a "new" Doors album (unless the band gets some real "balls" and records new material with Ian, which would be a real kick!). These gems are well worth it...
Free Music Review: Great Variety Hit: 5 Stars
Although the sound quality could have been better on some of the demo cuts, it is still intresting to hear morrison as a young and more timid vocalist. Before the band became big, like hearing somewhat of an evolution of tracks such as Moonlight Drive and Hello, I love you. A real highlight is the demo of Hyacinth House, it really displays morrison's vocal and songwriting abilities. robbie really stands out and plays well on roadhouse blues and break on through.
Free Music Review: And I hate to remind you but you're going to die Hit: 5 Stars
Included here are some demos(first recordings and man do they sound like it) the band used to get signed by a record label. There are a few songs on this record that were never released. These include: "Who Scared You", "I will never be untrue", "Someday Soon," and a remixed version of "Queen of the Highway. These are some great songs. Why were the other doors so timid about releasing these songs? I recommend this album (of course I dig anything the doors did).
