Free Music Review: best review ever (well... not really...)

i'm a huge fan or mr. benson... i truly am. when i heard a follow up to 'professional humoredian' was in the works, i was pretty excited. i was also pretty amazed. i was amazed that doug had come up with another album's worth of material so quickly. see... i had seen him at acme in minneapolis a few months prior, and much to my disappointment, his set, while solid (and quite funny) consisted almost exclusively of material off of 'professional humoredian'.
while 'unbalanced load' contains many-a-chuckle, i did find myself a tad bit disappointed with the amount of recycled 'humoredian' material. a few bits are left completely unchanged from benson's debut while others (pot ads, the marijuana-logues, last comic standing) are re-worked or expanded upon. while these bits were still pretty funny, it just left me feeling as if benson was unable to come up with 45 minutes worth of truly new, original material so he fell back on topics he knew would work.
with that being said, this album truly is funny and worth every penny. especially for fans of alt comedy or pop culture. benson's timing is spot on and his delivery is truly unique.
