Free Music Notes for Down From the Mountain: Live Concert Performances by the Artists & Musicians of O Brother, Where Art Thou?

Free Music Review: Fun and very singable
Hit: 5 Stars

I used to hate bluegrass music, but lately I've been hearing music with banjos in it and really liked it. I didn't know what kind of music it was. Through synchronistic surfing I found this CD and LOVE it. I sing along to almost every song in my car. I only wish they had put "I am a man of constant sorrow" from the movie also on the CD. Some bluegrass does make me yawn, but this is a lot of fun. I find it also relaxing and energizing at the same time. I would definately buy this CD again.

Free Music Review: One of my Top Ten
Hit: 5 Stars

I purchased this C.D. after "Oh Brother..." spent the whole week of my vacation in the C.D. player of my car. In addition to live versions of some of my favorite songs from "Oh Brother..", it has EVEN MORE terrific bluegrass/folk songs from these great artists. Ignore the funny looks that you get when you blast this in your car - you will enjoy remembering "the good ol' days".

Free Music Review: I was there when it happened and it's just as special now!
Hit: 5 Stars

I was at the concert at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville in May, 2000 when this recording was made. If there are any drawbacks, it's that they didn't include more of the performances from that night. A few more are included in the "Down From The Mountain" movie that is in theaters. This collection should rank right up there with the "O, Brother..." soundtrack as a best seller.

Free Music Review: A Must Own CD
Hit: 5 Stars

I had mistakenly got this cd as a gift and I was blown away on the first listen. I've owned it 2 months now and can't put it down. Even though I owned the sondtrack from O Brother, and some of the songs are repeats.. this cd is even better. Gillian Welch's I Want To Sing That Rock 'N Roll is superb. I am not a great fan of live albums, but this is fantastic.

Free Music Review: Listen to something different for a change
Hit: 5 Stars

If you are already a bluegrass fan, you'll probably like this mixture of bluegrass and old-time music. If you've only seen the movie then you know that this is great music and you could be on your way to becoming a bluegrass fan. This is just the beginning as you explore newer artists like Alison Krauss and pioneers like Ralph Stanley. Enjoy!
