Free Music Notes for Down II: A Bustle in Your Hedgerow AlbumFree Music Review: This is the hard life of the beautifully depressed Hit: 5 StarsHaving huge expectations for this album, it would be easy to be disappointed. However, that is most definitely NOT the case! This album is in every way a worthy follow-up to NOLA. In fact, Down II surpasses NOLA in many respects. I have to admit I am amazed at the diversity of this album, the variety of instruments and the high quality of song-writing shown throughout, and, again, I LOVED the first album! I mean who would have expected to hear a dobro, a Hammond organ and expressive, even melodic, singing on a Down album. In addition, it really sounds as if each member brought original ideas that their bread-and-butter bands (Pantera, COC, Crowbar, Eye hate God) would never touch (and, by the way, they all work). From the heavy stomp of Lysergik Funeral Procession and the Man that Follows Hell to the awesome Dog Tired and the immense Beautifully Depressed, there are hard, heavy rockers throughout. However, what really sets this album apart are the more mellow parts. Landing on the Mountains of Meggido, Learn from this Mistake and Where I'm Going are unlike anything you've ever heard before and Stained Glass Cross is as awesome as it is (dare I say it) catchy. The fact that it will never see the light of day on the radio is simply criminal. However, don't let that disuade you from purchasing this gem. It is easily the pinnacle of each members respective careers. Let's hope they have a few more left in them!
