Free Music Notes for Hope and DesireFree Music Review: Excellent CD Hit: 5 StarsShe is a rare gift and I wish she would come back to play in Northern Virginia (Birchmere).
Free Music Review: Huge Disappointment! Hit: 2 StarsBlues singers shouldn't try to go mainstream. If they do try and succeed, fine. That means they've stayed true to their roots. When they try and fail (as Susan has done with Hope and Desire), one would hope they'd try to get back to where they started. For me that was Just Won't Burn. I guess when one is happily married with children, it's hard to sing the blues since you're not feeling them . . . you're faking them.
Free Music Review: cd Hit: 1 StarsAn excellent CD, showing the range of her voice beyond the blues. Some nice covers.
Free Music Review: Hottest blues singer ... Hit: 5 Starsand she plays her own guitar better than most. She's not afraid to do covers, invent sounds and set back and wail. Her voice is more Joplin than Raitt..has that edge. She does Dylan, Stones, Sly Stone, and some solid soul.
Free Music Review: Incredible! Hit: 5 StarsI only recently discovered Susan Tedeschi on internet radio, and I fell in love with her music immediately. This is the third album I've picked up, and each one just gets better. She's covering some masters on this one, and while I miss the original sound of her own writing, it's the heart of her vocals that drives this one forward. Whether it's the soulful intensity of "Lord Protect My Child," the blues/rock gusto of "Evidence," or the gospel inspiration of "Magnificent Sanctuary Band," Tedeschi shines from start to finish.
