Free Music Review: This is some amazing music
Hit: 5 Stars

I would not consider this a rap Classic. I will however consider this a straight up music Classic, it is simply amazing.
The first time I hered this song, was in 2003 Iwas living in St. Pete FL, in Childs Park, a ghetto that had recently had a few race riots. The first track my friend put on the CD player while we played GTA3 on his PS2 was, "The Day Ni**az took over." He told me even though it was old it kept it real. I was amazed by this song, and I instantly fell in love with it for showing footage of actual riots. Even though the Riots that where a mile or so away from my house were on a much smaller level, I personally felt for the first time in my life that I had connected with a peice of music. Even though the track had much obvious rasicm against whites,(I myself am white) I loved it.
There is actually some great humor in this Album. Deez Nut$ with Snoop Doggy Dogg had my ribs hurting for minutes! If you are a Snoop Dogg fan YOU MUST GET THIS CD. This was made when Snoop wasnt a sucker appealing to old white housewives, dont get me wrong snoop is about the tightest rapper of all time, (despite the fact he stole slang from E-40), all im saying is that this song, especially Bi*ches Aint Sh*t, and Aint Nuthin but a G thang is Snoop at his best, and thqat alone makes it a classic. The only dissapointment I had was that 187 Deep Cover wasnt on this album, but hey we dont live in heavon. I dont know why people dont like Dre. as much as other rappers, in a way he is the like the underground commercial rapper/producer, and is sorely underated, everything he touches turns to gold. At the vibe awards Dre. said that he was going to releasing a new album some time... I CANT WAIT!!!
Back to the Album, the first track hits ya up like a train, with snoop dogg spitshining with the best of them in hateriffic wax against Eazy-E, and this performance makes anything that Eazy did to counteract look like crap, IT'S THAT GOOD. next comes Fu*k Wit Dre. Day (an everyone Celebratin) this is a hardcore gangsta rap at its best With the Target aimed straight at Eazy-E's head, this track is even more enjoyable if you look into Eazy, and Dre's history. Let me ride comes next, and is a well needed break from the straight up gangsta lyrical hate crimes that you have just witnessed. When I say hate crime im saying that, cause even if you didnt know who Eazy-E was, you would instantly feel sorry for whoever that Dre. and Snoop have just balled on. Im not sure if its this one, or the other version of this CD (theres like 3 of them) that has the extra Music Videos on the CD, Fu*ck Wit Dre. Day MUsic CD will make you Laugh out loud. THe thing I love about this album is it has everything. Want Hip Hop, Listen to Anit Nuttin But a G thang, want gangsta rap Fu*k wit dre. day is always there, but if you start to feel that hes not keeping it real, turn the track to the day Ni**az took over, and then you yourslef sitting back, and listening will feel as if Dre. himself as a person is talking to you, and let you know that he owns you to your very soul.
SIMPLY PUT, THIS IS THE BEST RAP ALBUM OF ALL TIME, AND I DONT KNOW OF ANY ALBUMS IN OTHER GENRES THAT TOP IT, IF YOU HAVE 10$ IN YOUR POCKET YOU NEED TO GO TO YOUR NEAREST CD SELLING STORE, AND PICK IT UP. You are not a true rap fan if you have not at least hered this album from start to finish

The Chronic Poster

Japanese reissue packaged in a miniature LP sleeve. Details TBA. Death Row. 2004.
1989's Straight Outta Compton, by Dre's previous outfit N.W.A., may have shined the public spotlight on the genre, but The Chronic legitimized it. That is not to say that Snoop Doggy Dogg (The Chronic marks his debut) and Dre's raps are for everyone; the subject matter is the sex, drugs, violence, and politics of South Central Los Angeles, and the phrasing is explicit, to say the least. But The Chronic's real genius is the music. By breeding hip-hop, jazz (studio instrumentation includes saxophones and flutes), funk, and soul (sampled artists include Parliament, Donny Hathaway, and Isaac Hayes), Dre creates downright intoxicating grooves. If you can't feel The Chronic pulsating through your veins, maybe your heart's not pumping. --Bill Crandall
