Free Music Notes for Inhuman Rampage (W/Dvd) (Spec)Free Music Review: Dragonforce puts the "M" back in Metal Hit: 4 Stars
Although not as good as their first album (Valley of the Damned), Dragonforce continues to impress me with their blazing fast riffs, complex chord progressions, and well orchestrated out of this world solos. Make no mistake, this is not the whiny touchy feely so called "Emo-Metal" that has been dominating the scene as of late. Nor is it the generic and lifeless KORN and Nickelback type crap that real metal fans have had to endure for so long. These guys are the inheritors of Dio and Iron Maiden, and I can only hope that they bring back a trend in Metal that once held an entire generation of headbangers enthralled.
Free Music Review: Yes, they have chops. Hit: 3 Stars
Yes, we all know Dragonforce can play fast, but what else can they do?
Well, pretty much nothing else. They are all great players, but they just don't have much variety. If you're a fan of Dragonforce, no doubt you will be awe-stricken by Inhuman Rampage, but if you're more like me, and enjoy variety in an album, then it will leave you dissapointed. All the songs stand alone, there's no cohesiveness to the album, and at first listen they all sound the same. I've heard many people call Dream Theater(btw, my favorite band) masturbatory, but they are not when compared to a band such as Dragonforce.
However, this album is not all bad. It's good music to listen to in the morning, it seems to get me energized. It's probably also good exercising music.
Highly reccomended if you enjoy REALLY fast metal, don't care about lyrics, and excessively long solos. But for others, look elsewhere. Maybe Kamelot?
Free Music Review: Uh, Guys, Got Anything New? Hit: 2 Stars
This garbage sounds exactly like the rest of the crap before it. I've owned all their albums and they eventually bored me. "Operation Ground And Pound" has some appeal and "Through The Fire And Flames" has an awesome opening, but everything else just blends in terribly...not even a desperately needed tempo change for any other tracks! I remember saying the exact same thing upon seeing the video to Through The Fire & Flames for the first time on YouTube. Every d*ckless Guitar Hero loser responded with swearing and mediocre insults in an attempt to defend their precious DragonForce. Sad. That was just me explaining that Through The Fire wasn't unique by a long shot when compared to the rest of the Dragonforce library. Gee, I wonder whats gonna happen here?
If you reading this believe I'm wrong, I dare you to listen to "Sonic Firestorm", "Inhuman Rampage" and "Valley Of The Damned" straight through (all tracks of all three of these albums) and find a musical distinction between them. I dare you. I'm not deeply into Power Metal, but I honestly gave this band a try only to be disappointed by their lack of creativity. I wouldn't recommend Inhuman Rampage unless it's the first album you buy from them - that way, it'll sound different, fast and new.
Guitar Hero losers, you may now tell me I'm wrong.
Free Music Review: musical masturbation Hit: 1 Stars
This recording is for non-musical guitar jockeys only. The musicians are skilled but the result sounds like a soundtrack to a bad japanese cartoon. Miles Davis should come back to life and slap each member for every non-musical 32nd note (which there are countless) played. No soul just egomaniacs trying to show how good they are. Instead of a million rotten fast notes, how about one musical note-but there are none.
