I must admit that I had only heard of Drake Bell through his Nickelodeon show "Drake & Josh." (No, I am NOT a tween or teen and yes, I enjoy the show.) When I saw this CD in the store, I bought it. When I popped it in the CD player, I was a bit perplexed and found myself wondering what I had gotten myself into. The first 42 seconds of the first song, "Up Periscope," were not what I expected, but when the music kicked in, I smiled instantly. And when the song was over and I found myself all-out grinning, I knew that the CD was a gem.
Bell's second album is a joy. It's fun and much, much poppier than his first album, but no less enjoyable. There is a four song arc at the end of the album where there is no break between songs - the songs tell a story about the progression of a relationship. But while this topic usually seems to inspire dark, angry songs, Bell's interpretation is refreshing and fun. The ragtime-inspired "End It Good" made me laugh out loud!
The songs are utterly sing-along-able. I find myself humming them to myself all the time. This CD definitely shares time with his first album, "Telegraph," in my car, office, and home stereos.
Bell made this album after he recovered from a serious car accident and has said that's why it's so upbeat. Whatever the reason, it's impossible to listen to this album and be sad.
Great, great album. One of my favorites.

First of all, let it be known that I am a 22yo male. I had not actually heard Drake Bell's music before this summer. I'd seen maybe half an episode of Drake and Josh and only knew him by name. However this summer, I was fortunate enough to see him live in concert four times this summer along with Aly & AJ.
I really fell in love with his music and never expected it. Unlike a lot of today's teen hearthrob artists, Drake Bell shows a really awesome and mature level of musical ability. You hear hear sounds of old eras of music which makes this album outstanding. I'm really surprised that Drake Bell is not known more widely than he currently is. He shows a lot of musical potential and can probably continue writing awesome music for a long time. Hopefully he will and will recieve the recognition he deserves.

I ordered this for my daughter who is 6, and loves Drake Bell from his tv show. She really likes music and loves to sing along to all of his songs. But the surprising part is how good it really is. The music is fun and I like it too, I always tend to be into music that is written by the artist, and respect that.Drake Bell is a talented musician and I hope he reaches a wider audience!Free Music Review: Surprisingly mature work

I'm WAY older than the target Drake Bell audience, but I was impressed with this CD. Drake Bell must have taken a stand against his record company to get this CD made---who would have thought the guy from "Drake and Josh" would create a Beatles-influenced power pop record? The Beatles influence is a bit too obvious sometimes, but "Rusted Silhouette" works. I think this guy, if he manages to stick it out, is capable of really important work in the future. I'm 21 years old, and while I do still watch Disney and Nickelodeon I never really liked Drake and Josh. However, when I heard his track "I know", it was love! The CD is new, and such a different sound then what you normally hear from the people coming from Disney and Nickelodeon- some of the songs are not completely appropriate for his younger viewers, but I definitely suggest it =)
