Free Music Notes for Warriors Code (Dig)Free Music Review: The Warrior's Code Hit: 5 Stars
First, I'll admit that I don't actually own this CD. I saw this band live at a local club and they kicked ass, though. The volume was cranked up to the fullest extent and the Murphys did everything in their power to put on a good show.
Anyway, they played repertory and songs off this album so I got the idea. This band transforms their power chords into 1,000 volt energy and makes excellent use of traditional styles and bagpipes put them almost up there with the Pogues.
Speaking of the Pogues, the Murphys cover one of their tracks on this album, The Auld Triangle with intensity. My favorite track on this album is Tessie for reasons of musicianship and fun and not because it's the theme song of the Boston Red Sox.
Buy this album as well as the Tessie EP and If I Should Fall From Grace With God by the Pogues.
Free Music Review: Their Best to date Hit: 5 Stars
It is always amazing to me how this band keeps maturing. This album is just a way-station toward even better, more elaborate, meaningful work. When last seen and heard, this bunch of brash and brawny souls were not only playing and singing their hearts out, but were playing guitars, drums, accordion, bouzouki, mandolin, banjo, piano, not to mention the pipes. All of it fitting. All of it on the money. And, listen to some of the lyrics; "Take it and Run" "Last Letter Home," "Green Fields of France." I mean, some of the best, most relevant stuff out there today. Goes far beyond the self-pitying emo, the trash of rap, the crap of hip-hop, not to mention the Pablum of most of the other "Top 40" stuff. No wonder the record industry is struggling to stay alive - pushing that kind of junk...
Free Music Review: CD review Hit: 5 Stars
Great CD!, I got to listen to segments of all the tracks before puchase. I plan to by more. Pricing was comprable to retail stores. Delivery was fast. Amazon kept me informed on the status of my purchase from the time I bought it until it was deliverd, with tracking info, est. time of delivery. They even continued to follow up after delivery to assure customer satisfaction. Since this purchase I have bought a few more items with the same great results and I have even been able to take advatage of free shipping offers. This is great because I am a soilder in Iraq and sometimes getting the right box, or getting to a post office is challenging. Plus it saves me money and time. Thank you Amazon for doing a great job for me. I will be doing my Christmas shopping here.
Free Music Review: Dropkick's Done it Again Hit: 5 Stars
Wow..after almost a month of getting this cd, its on my most played list and its still in my cd player right now. i have all of dropkicks albums but this isnt their best one. Instrumentally its amazing, and very powerful. Lyrics on this album are told as a story which i totally like about their lyrical skills much less the bands skills overall. I have yet to see them live and hope to be a dropkick fan for as long as possible. For fanatics of dropkick murphys you'd probably pick this album right away (like i did). Their First Album Do or Die is by far their best one. Id Choose Mike McColgan who was originally the bands lead singer over Al Barr any day. Just another review and i'm just another irishman.
Sla'inte Micks.
Free Music Review: My newest obsession Hit: 5 Stars
I'm not particularly interested in Punk music, I prefer roots/americana/folk and on the other hand 70's and 80's rock music. I, like so many others, heard Dropkick's song on "The Departed" and it's gripping sound drew me in to purchase the album. I am now 100% certain that I will sooner or later end up with every album in their catalog. To tell you the truth, I've abandoned the other 1,000 songs on my iPod for 13 of the 14 tracks on this album. The songs are anthem-like, brawl-inspiring, rugby-esque. Music that goes well with a side of raw meat. I am glad I bought this album before the earlier ones, it's mature and established sound helped hook me. I can't wait (now) to get into the grittier earlier tunes.
