Free Music Review: They've Come Full Circle...
Hit: 5 Stars

I have been a fan of Drowning Pool since their arrival upon the music scene; and like many others I was shocked and a bit taken aback by the sudden death of lead singer Dave Williams. However, as time does pass, things evolve and life moves on. Such is the case with Drowning Pool. With the release of "Full Circle" with their new lead singer, former SOiL frontman Ryan McCombs, they have proven to persevere and carry on in name, and style. Those that argue they should change their name because it's not the same without Dave are missing the point. Drowning Pool as a band will carry on, and by the keeping the name, they keep the spirit of Dave Williams alive and well within eachother, and through success of the band. Without further delay, here is my review of "Full Circle."

1. Full Circle - The title track of the album starts hard and heavy, and shows the band will take no mercy! Overall, it took me a couple listens to appreciate this track as the opener as I felt something was missing. Great guitar work here, and the vocals are just raspy enough to get the listener ready for the ride! 4/5

2. Enemy - I love the way Ryan starts off going semi-acapella behind the guitars and bass. everything hits so solid on this track, and the chorus will have you banging your head shouting along for days! Very, very heavy song overall! 5/5

3. Shame - ...STRAIGHT THRU YOU!! That is how the song kicks off as Ryan screams into the mic! Awesome, heavy track that shows the true power of just how well this band can gel together! Just the way the drums and guityars come together is enough to make you scream! Awesome song, and truly and anthem for rebel metal heads! 5/5

4. Reborn - This is my favorite track on the album! I love the way the song begins... very soft and hauntingly, and then BOOM into the classic DP heavy sound! The raw emotion of Ryan's voice through the chorus just sends chills down the spine! Could indeed be an ode to Dave, Ryan, and the band DP as they have all been "reborn" with this new musical begining!! 5/5

5. Reason I'm Alive - This track was written by Nikki Sixx and DJ Ashba for DP. I love how everything harmonizes together here, as its haunting yet deeply emotional at the same time. The vocals are solid and the drum work is flawless throughout. A ballad? I don't know, but it could be considered a hidden gem on the album! 5/5

6. Soldiers - This song is an anthem! An anthem for the soliders over seas, and an anthem for metal heads everywhere! I love the way the songs kicks off with the air raid siren flowing into the heavy guitars and drums! Lyrics may be a bit cheesy and repetitive at times, but it's still a rocker!! 5/5

7. Paralyzed - To me, this is the weakest song on the album but it is covered up by good placement in the track order. Something just seems to be missing from this song, and nothing seems to really take off. I've tried and tried to like this song but each time I listen, I wait for something to catch. Solid drum work throughout, but seems a bit off compared to the rest of the album. 3.5/5

8. Upside Down - I like this track simply because it has a solid mix. It really does take the listener on a journey. It has heavy parts, then slows down, then picks up, then slows down. Very solid guiytar work here, and vocally it gels well with everything going on! 4/5

9. 37 Stitches - This was the first single off the album and it gave listeners their first chance to hear Ryan's voice with the band. I feel it is a very, very solid track. My band and I have even covered this song on our last three shows and we always get a solid positive reaction. Much like "Reborn" the emotion behind the vocals that Ryan displays is enough to make it work; and the guitar work is some of the best I've heard! 5/5

10. No More - This is another solid and heavy DP tune. My only complaint is that the chorus becomes pretty repetitive by the end of the song. What is good about this is the solid performance of the guitars, bass, and drum here. When the song does slow down...then BOOM heavy drums! Amazing! 4/5

11. Love X2 - I love this song! this is like anthem to all the ex-girlfriends and/or bad relationships one may have had throughout their lives! May come off as cheesy, but trust me this song hits hard, heavy, and fast! You will be singing this chorus days afterward and you won't even realize it! 5/5

12. Duet - Although this song took some getting into, once I did I realized it is a very heavy track! Again, parts may come off as a bit cheesy, but if you ignore that factor, its another solid outing by DP. Give it time. 4.5/5

13. Rebel Yell - Now I've heard some argue that this cover doesn't pack the same attitude as Billy Idol's original. While that may be the case to create an argument, I feel it packs a whole different style of attitude than Billy Idol. Billy is a gret artist no doubt, and I feel that DP did him justice with their rendition of this song! Very heavy, fast and in true DP style! 5/5

There you have it! As a fan of DP from the very start, I can say they truly have come full circle. This album is definetly one to own for any DP fans or fans of hard rock and metal in general!
