Free Music Notes for DrumlineFree Music Review: JC single is worth buying the CD but others get you groovin Hit: 3 Stars
I bought this CD to hear JC(from Nsync) first solo song. . I have always been an Nsync fan primarily for JC but this shows his talent and is much more raw then Nsync. I love Blowin' me up (JCs track)so much. At first I would just listen to that song but when I gave the rest of the CD a chance I found many other great tunes. The soundtrack also has great songs from Too-short, Nick Cannon, and Nivea. Overall a good CD to get you in the mood to dance!!
Free Music Review: Just a'ight Hit: 3 Stars
It is one of those cd's that you feel for a minute, forget about, and pick it up a year later and say "Oh Yeah..."
Free Music Review: Poorly performed Percussion tracks Hit: 2 Stars
If you're looking to get this CD and listen to the 3 percussion tracks, look elsewhere. The drumline that performed the tracks seems very poor, lacking percision and timing in all of the scores. Just listen to the snares, they should sound as only one person is playing, yet there are anywhere from 8-10 seperate snares. In all the tracks, the line gets muddy and out of sync with eachother.
Free Music Review: Do not waste a single cent on this rip off. Hit: 1 Stars
If you're into the excellent beats played by the percussion and/or bands found in this movie, then don't waste another second on this CD.
Out of the 15 tracks on this album, only two had ANYTHING to do with the actual MUSIC played in the movie. The first of these two, track one, can hardly be called a song as it is less than 30 seconds long. The second of these two is the collage of songs played by the different bands at the BET contest, exactly as it is in the movie. Not elongated, not messed with, just as it was.
That is it.
All the other tracks are nothing but the mediocre hip hop or rap songs played throughout the movie that really had nothing to do with anything. Drumline was about marching bands, and playing real MUSIC, and that's exactly what you DO NOT get from this soundtrack. Don't bother purchasing it unless you're only interested in the crappy, unimportant background music found in the rest of the movie.
Also, as a side note: It's very obvious that the top two comments (at least) were not posted by the consumers, but by the vendors.
Free Music Review: Loved the Movie, Hated the Soundtrack! Hit: 1 Stars
Whoever put this soundtrack together forget the whole subject of the movie: great marching bands. There is only ONE track for all four marching bands featured in the movie! I wanted the soundtrack because I loved the performances of Morris Brown, Bethune Cookman, Grambling, Clark Atlanta and the fictional A&T. What I got is 14 tracks of hip-hop, most of which I don't even recall hearing in the movie.I wouldn't have minded if they split up the soundtrack into half marching band tracks and half hip-hop tracks. Splitting it like this would make it equally enjoyable to hip-hop fans and marching band fans. I don't know what producer Dallas Austin was thinking when he put this togther, but he really missed the boat. Once again, talented marching bands get shafted, just like on college football telecasts.
