Free Music Notes for Due South: The Original Television Soundtrack

Free Music Review: A good collection, that almost hits the mark.
Hit: 4 Stars

If you are looking for a good collection of the songs from the show, give this serious consideration. However, if you miss the show and hope that the collection has somehow preserved the magic of the fantastic background music, think again. Most of the songs are great, but some better choices certainly exist. If you have your hopes set too high, as I did, you might be dissappointed.

Free Music Review: Showcasing the Show's Best Music
Hit: 5 Stars

Anyone who's seen the show should be well aware of the excellence in music this soundtrack contains. Not only do you get music from the episodes themselves, but also parts of the score which adds to the show immensely. Especially notable was "Flying", By Blue Rodeo, which was stuck in my head within minutes of listening to it for the first time, "Possession", By Sarah McLachlan, which holds special meaning to those who've seen the Victoria episodes, "Ride Forever", which produces laughter even when you CAN'T see the chorus of Mounties, and of course the due South theme by Jay Semko. All in all, this is definitely worth picking up!!

Free Music Review: A show and a music fan! You've got to love this CD!
Hit: 5 Stars

This CD is really cool. I like different kinds of music so that makes this CD perfect for me! I watch the show when I was little and then I lost it! I couldn't find the station it was on! Well, I found it now and I heard some of the music off the episodes. I went nuts trying to find out where I could buy a CD with the songs! I was kind of surprised that there really was a CD with all these songs in Texas, I haven't heard from many fans from Texas, yet. I'm going to get one of my friends to watch the show and listen to the music. It has a great viarity from instermental to the famous Ride Forever to Native American music. I even like the country songs and I'm not much of a country music fan!

Free Music Review: Charming and Canadian
Hit: 5 Stars

I borrowed the CD from a friend, and will be getting my own copy. The second compilation (Volume II) doesn't have the same characteristic mood, but this one definitely echoes the feel of the show. I would have enjoyed it even better if more from the original score had been included, but it's still great. Tracks that stood out for me were almost all from the score, especially "Dief's in Love". And then there's Sarah McLachlan's rendition of "Possession", which doesn't need a hard sell -- it's incredible, and will be especially resonant to anyone who's seen the Victoria episodes.

Free Music Review: An ideal companion to the DUE SOUTH series!
Hit: 5 Stars

Suprised as I was to find this soundtrack exists, I was even more surprised by how enjoyable it is! Jay Semko's theme, Possession, and Ride Forever especially stand out. There's not one throwaway included. If you miss the show, just pop this CD in and it will help ease your loss!
