Free Music Review: A must for any music lover's collection!
Hit: 5 Stars

Duran Duran is a band of epic proportions. For their pioneering video craftsmanship, their trailblazing of the New Romantic subgenre, their fururistic fashion sense, the Fab Five deserve the lifetime achievement award they recently received.

"Greatest" is a fantastic compliation of their hits, from "Planet Earth" to "Electric Barbarella". The songs sound fantastic (better, in several cases, than on their original releases), and the collection boasts a robust repretoire of New Wave gems (I admit bias - my favorite Duran tune, "I Don't Want Your Love", appears). About the only off-note is the inclusion of the vapid "Serious": there are at least four better songs on "Liberty", the album from which "Serious" is taken.

Perhaps Capitol should have replaced "Serious" with "White Lines", the superb remake from "Thank You", Duran's album of cover tunes.

But that is a very small nit-pick. Another is that "Greatest" cannot be the definitive Duran Duran compilation - they have had two albums since, the quirky "Pop Trash" and the incredible "Astronaut", ensuring at least one more "best of" album ere the end.

But "Greatest", like "Decade" before it, is well worth the purchase price.

Free Music Review: THE GREATEST!!!
Hit: 5 Stars

the BEST band ever. Why? because if you really think about it-no one has EVER sounded like Duran Duran or even come close. Without a doubt, the most original band, ever! They wrote the catchiest songs, produced the best albums (does anyone know of any DD albums that are only good for their singles? - NO.)were the trendiest dudes in their day and still managed to survive the 80's. This collection is like a Bible for music lovers. Full of classics and there could have been more, had this been a double album. From their debut of "planet Earth" to the sexy "Union Of the Snake" and including Duran's most underrated single "I dont want your love". If you dont have this-get it. and catch up on old memories (because they will come back with these songs)and get ready for the reuinion tour and album. Younger people need to get this cd and familiarize themselves with Britain's greatest export. This cd includes MTV's first ever banned video,"Girls on Film", the best Bond Theme ever-"A View To A Kill" and one of the most beautifal ballads ever-"Save a Prayer"

Free Music Review: Very Good Cd but Could Have Been Better.... :(
Hit: 5 Stars

First of all, I think that this collection is a really good one. Almost all the songs are really good. Its a really great album for starters. This is the first Duran Duran Cd I have bought. The reason I didn't rate greatest hits album 5 out of 5 is because they couldh have made the album a lot better. This album is just Duran Duran's Decade Album with a few extras. I agree with most people, They could have made it into a 2 cd album with a lot more hits including some arcadia stuff. Worst of all, They made some of the good songs shorter for enough room for having all the songs in. 80's music to me is a lot better then the music now. People nowadays listen to Limp Bizkit, Backstreet Boys etc.... When you ask them about old bands they always say they're a bunch of crap. They have never realized how great these albums are. Bands like Duran Duran and Depeche Mode have made a strong influence on the bands of today. Even Though this album is mostly just decade its still the best duran duran cd.

Free Music Review: Essential.
Hit: 5 Stars

Taking their cues from David Bowie and (early) Roxy Music, Duran Duran created a remarkable collection of singles, all conveniently gathered together on this fantastic, endlessly listenable (though poorly annotated) compilation. From their earliest hits like "Planet Earth" and "Girls on Film" to their later could-have-beens ("Electric Barbarella," "Skin Trade"), this is some of the most influential, consistent pop music of its era. It is also a fine documentation of a good band's progression through two decades of stardom. So Simon LeBon's lyrics make no sense and the album has a rather oblique sense of sequence (one late song is mixed right in the middle of their early hits)--do you care? I don't. That's not what Duran Duran is about and, with only two weak tracks ("I Don't Want Your Love" and "All She Wants Is") out of a total of 19, this is the best record Duran Duran ever released.
