Free Music Notes for LibertyFree Music Review: Extremely Underrated Hit: 5 Stars
This Album went under the radar and didn't get much recognition. It had two great songs 'Violence of Summer' and 'Serious' along with a number of good tunes like 'All Along the Water' and 'First Impression'.
Free Music Review: OVERLOOKED Hit: 5 Stars
Some cool and catchy singles. Check out VIOLENCE OF SUMMER, SERIOUS and MY ANTARCTICA.

Free Music Review: Duranie Always Hit: 5 Stars
I listened to this tape back and forth from college. Brings back memories.
Free Music Review: Officially a Five-some-Again! Hit: 4 Stars
Although Warren played guitar on some tracks on the previous albums "Big Thing" & "Notorious", he wasn't an official member until "Liberty" was written along with an official drummer, Sterling Campbell. According to the band, this was breakthrough material. What happened? Well, a shift in mainstream taste apparently can have devastating effects. Alternative radio stations played more material from this album than the mainstream pop stations. Songs such as "Hothead, First Impression and Read my Lips received more radio airplay than the actual single releases. This was the 1st Duran album that I didn't take to immediately. Since that time, it has become a true classic, marking the band's departure from the pop-synth dance tunes (hence the title Liberty?). So yes I was disapointed at first. However, over time I realised that it was time for a change. Track 1 VIOLENCE OF SUMMER- the only so-called danceable tune is catchy and cute. The remixes though seem as if they were marketing the "Decade" greatest hits album instead of this one. #2 LIBERTY, a little groove with a little jazz? I could picture myself in a little coffee shop listening to this one. #3 HOTHEAD, I took to this song right away. A groovy little rock song with a message. #4 SERIOUS, The second single would be the only song from this album featured later on their "Greatest" hits album. A great little relationship song. #5 ALL ALONG THE WATER- In hindsight, this would have been the 3rd single. It never happened however. I liked it then and like it more after the Singles Box Set 86-95 was released and I heard the precursor to this song called "Waterbabies". #6 MY ANTARCTICA, powerful ballad. Powerful lyrics. Obviously has nothing to do with the continent. #7 FIRST IMPRESSION- Warren gets to jam on this one, and as said was played relentlessly on the new alternative rock stations popping up around this time period. Good kick-a song. #8 READ MY LIPS- okay, let's see how over produced a song could be. How many sounds can be intertwined into one song? All questions answered here with this one, however the song is still cool, just a little overdone. #9 CAN YOU DEAL WITH IT- I wonder if this was intended for th fans, can you deal with their ever changing styles? I can- love it! #10 VENICE DROWNING- another good storyteller song, you sorta get a sinking feeling with this tune. #11 DOWNTOWN, Too cool. The grinding bass beat is infectious but again is a little overdone. Looking back now I realise that sometimes what these guys release maybe a little ahead of it's time. That's a good thing. It means the music is timeless really. Just as an example, the follow-up album (Duran Duran 2) could have easily have been Liberty 2. The first one a little rock-a doo while the second a little contemporary. So if you already have the Wedding Album, you need Liberty to complete the set. It's a true gem.
