This is the album Nile Rodgers built. And Duran Duran, as well. From the energetic title track to the doo-wop inspired "Skin Trade" to the sweet "Matter of Feeling" (inspired by Roger Taylor's departure) to the rocking "Hold Me" to the mournful "Winter Marches On", everything has its funky place. The bass lines have never been stronger, and having then-session player Warren Cuccurullo on board helped bring in a more mature sound guitar-wise. Nick Rhodes of course kept the electronic vibe going and Simon LeBon performed his strongest vocals. Very delicious and mature. And since I got my anti-Duran offline friend Monica to say "cool" to "Meet El Presidente"'s funkdafied flavor, I'd say it's more than well worth the money.Free Music Review: A new beginning for Duran Duran

When drummer Roger Talor left Duran Duran after a terrible case of "nervous exhaustion," guitarist Andy Taylor quit the band because 1) he was already working on his solo album and 2) he got into a huge fight with bassist John Taylor. So, Simon, Nick, and John got together with Nile Rogers, and he produced the platinum-selling "Notorious." The haters were praying that the band was gonna fall apart and flop but they never did. I love those songs "Skin Trade," "Meet El Presidente," and "Notorious," which P.Diddy would use a sample for one of his singles. Wow, even after all this time, Duran Duran are one of the hippest groups around and they cannot be stopped. Just get this classic album now.

I was about 10 when I bought this album on casette, and later on CD, and I still enjoy it, cause it's simply the BEST of this group. They left behind the synthetic new-wave style and funked up 10 songs with heavy guitar strings and background horns, which sounds great all together! John Taylor's bass-play is better then ever, just check it out on the title track, Skin Trade or So Misled. I cannot name the best songs from this album, because there are no weak ones! A suggest this Duran CD not to only die-hard fans, but anybody who thinks that rock-funky turns his/her on. Brilliant work from an excellent band!Free Music Review: Masterpiece

Notorious is a phenomenal work of art. I bought and heard their first record, I had heard Rio before that and I thought it was amazing. I decided to buy their 1986 Notorious not knowing what to expect. Duran Duran's Notorious surpassed all my expectation; of the three records I've heard from this group, this album is easily the strongest. It is mature and refined yet still fresh and edgy. It is a great record throughout; here they have created realms in music previously unknown. I'm blown away - five stars.
