Free Music Notes for Red Carpet Massacre (Deluxe Edition)

Free Music Review: Pleasantly Surprised
Hit: 4 Stars

Well, perhaps surprised isn't the best word, but more on that in a minute. I must admit I was hesitant when I heard my favorite band was working with Timbaland and Timberlake. Now, I said they were my favorite band, but I don't think they are the best band in the world, so I think you can take my review seriously, and not just as tripe from some starry eyed fan. Anyway, I really believe this has some legitimate hits on it. While I think the two Timba tracks are perhaps the weakest (Nite Runner and Skin Divers) they do seem to have some mass market appeal as evidenced by all the commentary on the net. I highly recommend the tracks "Red Carpet Massacre" "Falling Down" (co-written by Timberlake) "Box Full O' Honey" and "Zoom In" for any fence sitters. While not quite as "Duran Duran" as 2004's Astronaut, this album still proves the band is viable. Give it a listen. Fans new and old won't be disappointed.

Free Music Review: Underrated DD Album that grows on you
Hit: 4 Stars

When I first heard the single "Falling Down" I was expecting a straight forward Duran album, full of melody and easy classic tracks. For me their last album, "Astronaut" was a major dissapointment, and not the classic to equal the hype of the original 5 line-up. This album however appeals to me more and grows on you from each listen.

When Andy Taylor left the band, I was delighted, his style no longer suited the style the band needed, and Live he just didn't fit in making a mess of none Andy Taylor tracks i.e. "Ordinary World" and "Notorious" he has one stlye of playing and that's it. Red Carpet Massacre has some surprise moments on there like the "Night-Runner" track with Timberlands trademark all over it. I loved Pop Trash, and find this album in the same vein, a very underrated well produced Duran album, definately worth more than one listen.

Free Music Review: RCM really Rocks
Hit: 4 Stars

I have been a Duran Duran Fan since 1982 I have everything the band has ever recorded "and more" I love the Duran unique sound so I was more that a little worried when I "first heard of the Timberland/Timberlake involvement with this album.. As I'm an 80's kid through and through "I don't like modern music..

However, I was I'm happy to say that on Receiving Red Carpet Massacre from Amazon I was pleasantly surprise!! Although a little different the Duran sound "is still there" with a nice modern twist the CD hasn't been out of my stereo since it arrived... I love it!!!

Also the DVD included in this set is a perfect Duran behind the scenes peek a must for any diehard Duranie like myself.

Free Music Review: a good effort, better than astronaut
Hit: 4 Stars

The album isn't perfect, but it is good. A lot of high points.
But honestly, 'skin divers' and 'zoom in' aren't that good.

Funny, Timbaland's 'skin divers' is the worst song on the CD. I think Danja might be better. I thought working with timberlake/land was a mistake, they proved me largely right.

DD should never have allowed Timbaland's voice to be heard on the CD.
I think they'll regret it.

'Tempted' is awesome.

Free Music Review: Duran Duran + hip hop = four stars (would give 4 1/2 if possible)
Hit: 4 Stars

Great album. This album is a move towards the technical with Muse-like base patches on songs like Red Carpet Massacre. Guitar takes a back seat. The hip hop angle works on songs like Skindive. It's a little hard to tell how much will be pre-programmed live but I look forward to finding out.
