Free Music Notes for Red Carpet Massacre (Snys)

Free Music Review: Not your ordinary red carpet
Hit: 5 Stars

This album may not be your, "typical," Duran but it is chock full of everything we have come to love about the band and their influences. It doesn't matter if you like rock, electro, pop, disco, or rap, RCM has everything in its grooves!

I found all but the title track to be gems. Even the Andy Hamilton-esque (Simon Willescroft ) saxaphone on, "Dirty Great Monster..." It's awesome!!
The single release, "Falling Down," seriously took time to get used to but it grows on you and permanently sticks. "Nite-Runner" beats all else on this release; It's catchy, sexy, fun...

RCM has a lot of energy, a lot of Roxy, a little Ladytron, a lot of Chic and a slew of modern influences. I have found that people would rather Duran maintain a certain sound...and although admittedly I prefer the Duran of 1981, times have definitely changed and in honor of that change, Duran has presented us with, "Red Carpet Massacre."

RCM really is a brilliant album once your mind is on OPEN.

Free Music Review: Upbeat PopRockExperimental album
Hit: 5 Stars

I just bought the album and I got to say that it's quite upbeat and different Duran has ever done. Although I admit that there are times this looks like a Simon Lebon solo album it reminds me how catchy the musical arrangement is. We're in the 2yk decade and there's a lot of pop rubbish on airwaves and this music perhaps better and more playful than the pseudo emotionless lyrics other generated bands can come up with. Tho I'm not a Timbaland fan because of his sound he did produce interesting computerized sounds in tracks like: Nite Runner and Skin Divers. Kudos, it's catchy and now I think I'm going to check out his previous projects (this is coming from a rock music fan). Danja Hills has a very similiar style to Timbaland but I think in some of the tracks Danja did do on his own showed (Dirty Great Monster, Tricked Out) sounded raw with a bit of pop sound to it... quite a treat... I do hope the scrapped Album "Reportage" comes out next year.

Free Music Review: THE BEST SINCE NOTORIOUS
Hit: 5 Stars

Let's get serious for a second. This is the most danceable, hooky, catchy album that they've had since 1986!!! It's quite ironic that it took Timberlake and Timbaland to get DD back to their roots. Finally, I can hear Simon's soaring vocals paired with Nick's hook-laden synth and John's brilliant bass. "Tempted" is magnificent - what an amazing dance song. It's simultaneously old Duran and new. "She's too Much" is incredibly stylish (and complex, I might add). Bryan Ferry would be proud.

This album is fresh, it is perfect, and this is exactly what we've all been waiting for since, well, Ronnie and Maggie were still in power. Let's hope that radio stations and (good) dance clubs in LA, NY and London start playing this album!

Guys, I doff my hat to you. What a splendid effort.

Free Music Review: One of their best!
Hit: 5 Stars

When I first heard clips on iTunes I thought they'd completely lost their minds. However, when you're a DD fan you know that the band is always 10 steps ahead of their fans. You may not get it the first time, you might not get it the second time, but eventually you're hooked and wondering what it was you missed the first two times!
Unlike their last two releases, "Astronaut" and "Pop Trash", the music sounds fresh and current -- not like a band TRYING to sound current. My hands down faves are Red Carpet Massacre, Box Full O' Honey, The Valley and Tempted, which would sound amazing in a club if there's any DJs out there with the balls to play it!
Long live Duran Duran!

Free Music Review: Great album!!!!!!!!!
Hit: 5 Stars

I have every single Duran Duran CD - inlcuding the Arcadia one. They are all great in their own way. As much as I like their old stuff - I think there's no need to keep making the same music year after year. It's like our company owner says - Change is the key - if you dont change - you go out of business. I'm glad Duran Duran evolves. This CD sounds modern yet unique Duran Duran. Duran Duran is playing in Dallas next month - I'm definately going to go check them out!
On a side note - I didn't even know their album went on sale - there was nothing in Best Buy/Circuit City weekly ads - I found about the albun release date on myspace - how could THAT happen???
