Free Music Notes for Rio

Free Music Review: POUND FOR POUND THE BEST.
Hit: 5 Stars

At a time when several pop/new wave records seemed to have little or no acutal musicianship, "Rio" showed up. This album has a sense of balance and dynamics that forces the listener to hang in there from beginning to end. Huge singles like "Hungry Like the Wolf" and "Save a Prayer" fit seamlessly into a record that could have released any one of its tracks as a single. The production, while more sophisticated than the debut, has a clear rich tone which showcases the real talent this group had. (and still has)
Get it in the collection and enjoy a true gem from the 80's.

Free Music Review: Musical Perfection
Hit: 5 Stars

Rio is my all time favorite album. I actually had 3 vinyl copies of Rio because the grooves wore out. I thought that this CD was actually very good. I especially liked the packaging. As far as the music, I think that Duran Duran achieved perfection with this album. I love every track on it. If you do not like new wave music this is not the album for you. All of the instruments blend to make some of the best songs ever recorded. No, there is nothing life changing about this album, but when I am down there is nothing like listening to Rio to make me feel happy again.

Free Music Review: Holds up well
Hit: 5 Stars

Easily one of my favorite CD's from my favorite rock `n roll decade, Rio holds up well, even after many hit CD's from the 80's grow tiresome and hollow. Songs like "Hold Back the Rain" and "The Chauffeur" prove the versatility of Double D's music and Simon LeBon's voice. Of course, "Hungry Like the Wolf," "Save A Prayer," and the title track helped cement the band's reputation as radio favorites and MTV darlings, but I love all the songs here. I also must say that, before "New Religion," I had never heard a song that uses two different choruses simultaneously.

Free Music Review: CLASSIC 80'S - GREAT TUNES!!
Hit: 5 Stars

This is a WONDERFUL album. I think that every track is good, although "Last Chance On A Stairway" would be the weakest of the lot. For a long time, Duran Duran was dismissed as pretty boys who thrived on account of their looks, and the music was for awhile, not taken seriously. This album is definitely their creative peak. I like the album before this (the debut) and the album after this (Seven And The Ragged Tiger), but this one is the BEST!! If you like heavy bass and guitar in your New Wave music, this album is for you. A great, great sound.

Free Music Review: Pure Genius
Hit: 5 Stars

Many records have a couple of good songs which stand out on a record and that is what you have paid for. On this second Duran LP, you pay very little and get decades worth of enjoyment. Each song on this New Romantic anthem click. The remastered version of the album is much different from the album I originally bought as a high schooler, but it's nice to hear each instrument individually now. Plus, it has a little harder edge to it especially on "My Own Way", "Lonely in your Nightmare" and "Hold Back the Rain".
