Free Music Notes for Strange BehaviourFree Music Review: Highest Quality Club 12" Versions in audiophile quality Hit: 5 Stars
This is without a doubt one of the best recordings of 80's synth pop dance music. The quality is as good as the orginal 12" Vinyl that you would have heard in the clubs. Most CD re-issues these days are mastered "hot" or compressed - see CD loudness wars on google - but not this one! A rare gem that you can crank and a tribute to some of the most expensive productions by some of the best mix engineers. I have Notorious on CD and the four 12" extended verions on Strange Behaviour are alone worth the price - tremendous dynamics - sound made for high quality night club systems rather than sound squashed for car radio listeners!
If you like DD and were disappointed by their CD sound quality compared to Vinyl then get this. (The newer release of RIO on CD is also much better than the original CD version - although the latest Rio CD is based on the orginal UK master tapes and not the remixed versions that were released a year later in th U.S. - so some people may be surprised to find different versions of severall songs)
Free Music Review: Includes some of the very best remixes of the 80's Hit: 5 Stars
Even though I already have most of the older 12"ers on vinyl, I didn't hesitate one second before buying this great collection of remixes. Both because it's nice to have them in remastered CD quality, and because there are some different and hard-to-get versions included here. Especially the alternative (at least for us Europeans) versions of Planet Earth, Rio, New Religion, Hold Back The Rain, and I Don't Want Your Love make this double CD worth buying. Overall, the second disc is not as interesting, mainly because the newer remixes tend to mutilate the originals beyond recognition (the version of Too Much Information is an outrage). The remixes of the songs from Notorious, however, are among the best in the collection - particularly Meet El Presidente, on which some jaw-dropping percussion from Bashiri Johnson has been added. Great stuff!! If you don't know these remixes, buy this disc and be blown away. And if, like me, you already have most of them, it's still well worth the money.
Free Music Review: 12 Inch Classics, Back On Wax! Hit: 5 Stars
When i first found this CD, i was glad to see that it had all the 12 Inch Remixes and 12 Inch Extended Versions and Digitally Remastered of all of our favorite Duran Duran tracks. Disc 1 : The Night Versions (1981-1984), all of them are all CLASSICS (Bar-None!), but If I had to crown the reigning champ of Disc 1, it has to go to "Girls On Film", this is the version that was used for the "UNCENSORED" video, before editing it and then using the LP Version from the "Duran Duran" 1981 LP, the Night Version of "Girls On Film" blows the album version right out of the water big time, it has way more sex appeal to it. Overall Disc 1 : "More substance Is better". Disc 2 : The Remixes (1986-1993), Disc 2 doesn't have the same magic that Disc 1 has, it kind of falls short and at times makes it kind of hard to listen too (I don't know, bad remixing, it was the mid 80's, at times doesn't sound like a remix), but you have to like for what it is.
Free Music Review: Awesomely Strange Hit: 5 Stars
I don't quite get the Title for this compilation, obviously the band members didn't have anything to do with it, but nonetheless it's AWESOME if you like the dance remixes and extended versions. After picking up Essential Duran Duran Night Versions I was pleased to find that several of the early hits were different on this compilation. Better yet, a few of the later hit variations are different than the track list on the Singles boxsets. If your into the remix & extended versions this band pioneered into a marketing powerhouse- this is a must for your collection. The artwork too personifies what these guys have always been about. My own collection of music now exceeds 200 songs (amazing considering there are only 11 studio albums to date) Pluses found here...The carnival version of Rio, Chemical reaction mix of American Science & Jellybeans remix of Too Much Information. It's great in a way, it makes songs new all over again. Enjoy!
Free Music Review: This album has remixes not released on any other album Hit: 5 Stars
Most of the time when a band or record company decides to release an album of remixes it will usually only contain songs that were released on earlier albums. This is not true with Strange Behaviour. Strange Behaviour contains remixed versions of Duran Duran songs that were not released on either of the singles collection box sets. These songs include Planet Earth (Night Mix), Hold Back The Rain (Remix), Rio (Carnival Version), New Religion (Carnival Version), American Science (Chemical Reaction Mix), I Don't Want Your Love (Dub Mix), Come Undone (Come Undub), Love Voodoo (Sidney Street 12" Mix), Too Much Information (12" Jellybean Remix), and None Of The Above (Drizaborne 12" Mix). However, New Moon On Monday (extended version) is the same as New Moon On Monday (Dance Mix). This album is a perfect companion to go along with the singles collection box sets and the Essential Night Versions for those into Duran Duran Remixes.
