This unusual and fascinating disc combines performances of Dvor?k's Piano Concerto by two great Czech pianists. Ivan Moravec plays the most commonly heard edition of the concerto, a revision by the pianist Vil?m Kurz; Radoslav Kvapil plays the composer's original score. Just as I prefer the original edition, I also prefer the even greater poetry of Moravec's playing (although Kvapil is no slouch!). Both pianists handle the technical demands of the music well, and both are strongly supported by alert orchestral collaboration.
