Free Music Notes for Dwight Sings Buck (Dig)Free Music Review: Together Again Hit: 5 Stars
Even if I was unaware of Dwight's well documented love for Buck, I'd still be able to pick up on the obvious affection after listening to this CD. The final track, "Together Again," is sung with none of Dwight's usual restraint and is ripe with emotion. I actually teared up listening to it the first time. Yoakam's second offering on his indie label is another flawless effort. I'm enjoying the maturation of an artist who I never thought needed improving.
I've loved Dwight's music from the first time I heard it twenty-some years ago. I thought he and Pete were an incredible team, but I think the changes that came with "Blame the Vain" have been better. On the tour for that album, Dwight was looser and seemed to be genuinely enjoying himself onstage, a real change of pace from years past when he was much more introverted and rarely interacted with the crowd. I would love to see a tour in support of this album.
Beautiful effort, incredible instrumentation and a moving tribute.

Free Music Review: DWIGHT YOAKAM: Buck Owens' Pride & Joy Hit: 5 Stars
I'll keep it short and simple. After seeing[television] and hearing[records/radio]Dwight & Buck divinely harmonizing and co-leading on vocals, while each respectfully held his own, on a few hits & tracks over the past 20 years, DWIGHT had to be BUCK OWENS' musical pride and joy, and the rightful heir to Buck's influential legacy. Buck must've enjoyed the fact that 'somebody out there' other than the record buying fans was LISTENING to his music and being inspired to carry the torch. Buck Owens was one of a kind in music history - nobody else ever sounded nor played music as he did. Dwight Yoakam is also one of a kind, no carbon copy of anybody else, absolutely rare and unique in that he absorbed his musical influences well, bred them in his mind, ears and soul, and molded every ounce into his own distinct, identifiable sound. Dwight does Buck mighty proud, and Mr. Owens is smiling down on his sincere friend.
Free Music Review: An amazing tribute... Hit: 5 Stars
Anyone that knows Dwight Yoakam knows of his deep relationship and love of Buck Owens over the past 15 years or so.
When Buck passed away earlier in 2007, we were all left with broken hearts.
And Dwight had that same heartbreak as he tried to continue his professional career.
What resulted from years of love and friendship, was Dwight's passion for the amazing songs that Buck wrote and/or performed.
"Dwight Sings Buck" is a tremendous "homage" to Buck's music, but with Dwight's honkytonk twist to classic songs.
Buy this CD, listen to it, and you will walk away with not only a love of Buck's lifelong talent, but also a sense of Dwight's love for the man.
Buck 'em!
Free Music Review: Don't Miss Hit: 5 Stars
Dwight Sings Buck is the best album from Dwight Yoakam since If There Was a Way, maybe even better. For fans of Buck Owens, this is an extraordinary tribute sung with reverence and feeling. For fans of Dwight Yoakam, this is Dwight at his best: the best voice, the best song selection, the best arrangements. If you happen to be a fan of both performers, you are in for a treat beyond compare. If you've never heard of either of them (because you've been on Mars or something), you will find yourself tapping along with the beat, then humming along, then singing with Dwight. The harmony vocals by Eddie Perez are also outstanding without being overpowering. Dwight's production effort approaches perfection. Who needs Pete Anderson?
