I first ran across Dwight Yoakam as the menacing boyfriend in Billy Bob Thorton's Slingblade. I thought he was great in the role. It was much later in Asleep at the Wheel's tribute to Bob Wills that I found out he could also sing. He sang San Antonio Rose on the CD and I was hooked on his voice. This greatest hits CD is the first one of many that I have bought. It gives a broad spectrum of this man's talent. His voice has an inflection in it that is irresistable to me. This CD of his is always in my truck. "Little Ways" is my favorite on the CD and I have danced the cumbia to the "Streets of Bakersfield". YOU RULE DWIGHT!Free Music Review: The perfect set

This really is the Very Best of Dwight Yoakam. I'd have picked almost exactly the same 20 songs if I had to pick 20, these really are the best of the best and not a weak (or even average) one in the lot. These songs are the reason Dwight is in my top 10 favorite artists of all time along with Lyle Lovett, Lucinda Williams, Robert Earl Keen, Jim Croce, and others.
If you are interesting in buying your first Dwight CD, this is absolutely positively the best possible way to start. If you just want a great collection from his other albums, again it's great. Can't lose.

I've owned this album for a while, but I have to admit I hadn't listened to it much. I am a longtime fan and I already owned all the songs on other albums! The other day I was looking for a way to introduce my young kids to DY, and I pulled out this album. It is really good. It moves right along, seems like it would be great on a drive. I agree with others, I miss "The Heart That You Own" and "Nothing." I would have included them instead of "I Want You To Want Me" and "The Late Great Golden State". But overall this is a great collection, a sampling of one of the very best.Free Music Review: A Hat Trick not a Hat Act!

Dwight Yoakam & his incredible band played Baltimore live last night for the first time in many, many years starting off in high gear, went to overdrive then turned on the after burners driving fans into a Fender Telcaster/Honkytonk Heaven frenzy. He played his entire greatest hits playlist off this CD & many more. He's so hip, so ultra cool, so alternative country & so unNashville. Plus he's young alive & still playing on planet earth. Highly recommend this CD plus Dwight's Used Records CD. Look for Dwight's brand new CD coming out probably in June 2005!Free Music Review: this is a great album

hey there other fans. this is a great dwight yoakam album a must have for any of his fans. this is one of his best hits albums. theres only a few songs left off this record. i think should have been on here as well like fair to midland. and some other buck and dwight songs. but maybe dwight will come out with a dwight yoakam sings buck owens album that would be a smash. all in all i like it just fine he is the king of rockabilly.
