Free Music Review: Not Fetus' best but it's still pretty good.

I had gone out a few days after Christmas to get a few albums I had lokked at recently. I left the store with Dying Fetus' Stop At Nothing along with two other albums (Behemoth-Demigod and Overkill-Years Of Decay). I liked this album more than I thought I would. It has some awesome musicianship and technicallity. It is not as good as Destroy The Opposistion or Killing On Adrenaline but hey, only few bands can make music as good as those albums (cough cough *Nile and Behemoth* cough). I was immediately surprised at the brutallity right out of the gate with the awesome Schematics. The album even gets more surprising when even more songs are more enjoyable than I thought they would be. John Gallagher selected sightly less talented musicians for this album but they are all still extremely tight musicians. John and Mike Kimball grind out extremely tight riffs along with ripping solos. Sean Beasley can be heard throughout this album but not very much. Drummer Erik Sayenga, while a talented drummer, can't blast as well as Kevin Talley, who's amazing and mind-boggling drumming will be missed. John even went through the trouble to get a lead yeller to growl along with him. The pair is simply not as good as the John Gallagher/Jason Netherton combo from previous albums, though. This is because Vince Matthews vocals are deeper than Jason Netherton's. John has still got his signature ultra-gutteral bellows though. My main gripe, though, would be the production. It is mix low so the bass and John's voice can't be heard that well. Although there are many problems with this album it has a few enjoyable songs like Schematics, One Shot, One Kill, Forced Elimination, Stop At Nothing, Onslaught Of Malice, and Vengeance Unleashed. Despite the number of enjoyable songs and its technicallity and brutallity, Stop At Nothing is simply not as good as Destroy The Opposistion or Killing On Adrenaline. Start with those two albums first.
