Free Music Review: Hell did Freeze over!!
Hit: 5 Stars

I am not going to repeat what all the other reviewers have already written. Suffice it to say that, though Eagles were primarily a rock band, to this day, their music defies categorization. In an effort to classify their music, people call their brand of music, folk rock, country rock, California rock and so on. The Eagles predominantly played during a time when some of the greatest rock bands of all time were at their best. They pass the litmus test for genius, given the fact that they could stand out among all those talented artists of their generation.

"Hell Freezes Over" is a good primer for someone who is new to Eagles, since it has a bit of almost all varieties of music that they played. Their most popular songs like "Tequila Sunrise" and "Hotel California" has been played in almost all radio stations from Seattle to Siberia. The live version of Hotel California on this album sounds better than the original. From heavy numbers like "Get Over it" and "Life in the Fast Lane" to melodious songs like "Pretty Maids All in a Row" and "Desperado", this is a treat for your ears (not to mention the ubiquitous numbers "Hotel California" and "Tequila Sunrise"). Even if you are not a rock aficionado, I can assure that you will find this album enjoyable. This will spin in my CD player for a lot more years to come! Must buy!!

Free Music Review: The Eagles have reunited!
Hit: 5 Stars

In 1994,thirteen years after their disbanding, the Eagles gave thousands of fans a reunion concert consisting of their many chart-topping hits. Every overall member performed at the concert, much to the delight of longtime fans. The performance included drummer/vocalist Don Henley's hit NEW YORK MINUTE from his 1989 release THE END OF THE INNOCENCE. These live tracks sound just as good as the original master recordings. However, you'll notice an updated percussion on HOTEL CALIFORNIA. This version is completely acoustic,no amplified sounds like the original 1976 recording from the album of the same title. Other HC tracks include NEW KID IN TOWN,LIFE IN THE FAST LANE,WASTED TIME,VICTIM OF LOVE,PRETTY MAIDS ALL IN A ROW and the swan song,THE LAST RESORT. THE LONG RUN tracks are the title track,I CAN'T TELL YOU WHY and HEARTACHE TONIGHT. You'll love their earlier favorites like TAKE IT EASY,DESPERADO,BEST OF MY LOVE and TEQUILA SUNRISE. This album did spawn two new hits:GET OVER IT and the soft-rocking LOVE WILL KEEP US ALIVE. They later appeared on the 2003 ultimate double-CD compilation VERY BEST OF THE EAGLES,minus the preceding and following audience applause. After this concert, the band reunited to record HOLE IN THE WORLD for the compilation, which became their tribute to the victims of the September 11,2001 terrorist attacks.

Free Music Review: An Amazing Album From An Amazing Group
Hit: 5 Stars

"For the record, we never broke up..." those seven words start out the concert portion of this album and from the music, it's almost believeable. One of the 1970's most famed rock groups, who broke up over disputes and promised not to reunite until Hell Froze Over, have come back together for their reunion concert and it's amazing. It's a stripped down, more intimate show than their first live album, but that's one thing that makes it so amazing. They have nothing but their instruments to make them sound good. And they sound awesome.

The standouts on the album include "The Last Resort," which is possibly the best song, "Life In the Fast Lane," and a chilling version of "Desperado." But let's not forget the most famous song from the album...a stripped down and amazing version of "Hotel California," which far surpasses the original.

The four songs at the beginning, which are new studio recordings(but are shown live on the video version) should be satisfying enough for anyone. They range from hard rocking to original Eagles country-rock.

Overall, this is THE must have CD for any Eagles fan...heck, for ANY MUSIC fan.

Free Music Review: Hell Freezes Over
Hit: 5 Stars

After claiming they'd get back together when `Hell Freezes Over', The Eagles did exactly that and this excellent album is the result. This starts off with four new studio tracks before moving on to a live performance. The opener `Get Over It' is a full pelt rock track that will get your foot tapping and juices flowing and I still love it even after repeated listening. Standout tracks have to be `Hotel California', which has an amazing intro that still leaves my jaw gaping and the wonderfully brooding `New York Minute'. This CD is very strong throughout though and showed new and old fans alike that this band most definitely still had it. Despite friction within the band and later line-up changes, this is a snapshot of very accomplished musicians and an appreciative audience enjoying a night of magical playing and it rates very highly in my music collection. It is an album I recommend for those who are new to The Eagles or those who are fully aware of what this band has to offer, as it has some great renditions of some timeless tracks. Great stuff.

Free Music Review: It's about time Hell froze over
Hit: 5 Stars

This is something many classic rock fans dreamed about for many years--the reunion of the Eagles. Then, finally, in 1994, it happened, and the result is this spectacular album(along with the DVD of the same title). The sound is absolutely fantastic, and the band is very impressive, definitely at the top of their game.

Most of the classics you and I have heard on the radio for so many years are present here, many performed with a little bit of extra kick that makes you remember why the Eagles were such a rockin' band in the first place. The version of "Hotel California" is breathtaking, "Take it Easy" rocks like no tomorrow, and "Tequila Sunrise" makes you tap your foot in spite of yourself. There are also four new songs (along with one solo song of Don Henley's), all of which are great.

I bought the CD when it came out in '94, and am only now experiencing the DVD version. Both are great, and the DVD even has two songs that the CD doesn't. This is an album no Eagles fan should be without, and also one that will be an essential part of any Classic Rocker's collection. The Eagles still have it!
