I have wanted to replace my old and worn tape of this fantastic album with a CD, but I was afraid to because of the different versions available. I got the wrong version from an online auction (the one with "Mockingbird" and "Runaway" instead of "Tender Years" and "Wild Summer Nights") Since I got burned, and since there were so many reviews on Amazon that said that Amazon had the wrong version, I was very hesitant to order the CD from Amazon. But I decided to take the chance and I am VERY HAPPY to say that I just received the Volcano version from Amazon -- the one with "Tender Years" and "Wild Summer Nights". I am listening to "Tender Years" as I write this! Thanks Amazon!Free Music Review: Awesome CD!!!

Eddie & The Cruisers was one of my all-time favorite movies from the 1980's! It had a great story line, and the music was awesome. In fact, I remember driving around with a car full of friends (in my teens in 1986/87) blaring this cassette & singing along, laughing & having a great time - so this music brings back a lot of great memories for me...
The music from Eddie & The Cruisers is a mixture of 1950's & 1980's rock - it's a bit hard to explain, but great nonetheless.
I would highly recommend this CD to anyone who liked this movie, was a teen in the 80's &/or likes the sound of the older style of rock-in-roll. You won't be disappointed!

Obviously, this is a soundtrack that in it's original form is one of the best movie soundtracks of its era. I read a couple of the reviews and found that two of the best songs had been left off( for copyright reasons ) the most recent pressing. I'd like to say, that I am thankful for AMAZON.COM!! Despite the reviews others had left about this version, I went ahead and ordered anyway... I was not disappointed :) When it arrived, I found that they(AMAZON.COM) had tracked down an original Volcano pressing with all original tracks intact! THANK YOU... I was totally blown away from the sound
that came from John Cafferty's songs
On the film that gave him the exposure
to the later albums that were forgotten
by radio stations.
Man, to hear these songs comparable
if not better than Bruce Springsteen.
He's got this ability to move u,
but also soothe you with his
powerful melodies and words
For serious fans, get all of
his work. I know a real musician/songwriter
when I hear one, and John Cafferty
is a winner in my book
How he never made it big
is beyond me

I've seen the movie more than once, owned the vinyl and tape and now have the CD...and, through the years, this soundtrack has never let me down.
Over the weekend, driving along with the top down, and this CD blaring...I was almost transported back to the early sixties...and wished I could have seen Eddie and the band in person.
Of course, we all know "Eddie & The Cruisers" is a work of fiction. But, having seen John Cafferty & The Beaver Brown Band in concert, recommend this band, highly. Catch one of their concerts, if you can...and, if you buy this CD, play it loud and often!
