Free Music Notes for Eddie & The Cruisers: The Unreleased Tapes

Free Music Review: Great music, but find me Tender Years !!
Hit: 4 Stars

Great CD, but where is Tender Years? They need to re-issue this and the original Eddie, bringing back Tender Years. That song is hot. Someone tell me: do those import versions have it?

Free Music Review: Great bunch of songs
Hit: 4 Stars

I enjoyed every song. I think they should have been released!

Free Music Review: This one was kind of a cash grab by the record company
Hit: 3 Stars

After the stunning success of the original John Cafferty & Beaver Brown album, (the soundtrack to the Eddie And The Cruisers movie,) big things were predicted for this bar band from Rhode Island. Unfortunately, the second album, the worthwhile Tough All Over, pretty much got ignored by the public, many of whom thought that Eddie and his Cruisers were a real band. (The husband of a co-worker swore to me that he saw them in concert when he was a kid in the early '60's. He got really cheesed off at me when I laughed at him.) When Tough All Over failed to set cash registers ringing like the debut, and Roadhouse did worse, JC & BB got shuffled to the back burner. This is an odds and sods collection meant to do nothing more than clean out the vaults and make a little of the record company investment back. The one gem on the album is the combined first two cuts, Rock & Roll Dialogue which segues into On The Dark Side. I always like On The Dark Side, but the brooding intro kind of left me cold. The first two cuts on this disc eliminate that intro for what turns out to be a really cool version of On The Dark Side. I use it (well, used it,) whenever I had the occasion to make a tape or cd for anyone, and I have yet to have a complaint. This shouldn't be a high dollar buy for you, but if you see it cheap, it's worth having.

Free Music Review: A rock and roll fable-Eddie
Hit: 3 Stars

Quite a unique mix of songs, with many instrumentals ... nyc song, just a matter of time...coupled with Eddie's dialogue on some tracks--'music's gotta live, it's gotta breathe'... bought this album for the addictive guitar riff/solo that Eddie/Rick jams to in 'Eddie and the Cruisers II' -- namely 'Heat of the Night' -- John Cafferty's songs, although Bruce Springsteen-sounding, bring a raw edge to Eddie's persona, and his songs entirely match the mood of the show - esp 'Just a matter of time' - a retrospective song on lost dreams regained somewhere down the road ...

Free Music Review: ok but not impressed
Hit: 3 Stars
