Free Music Notes for Music for the Motion Picture Into the WildFree Music Review: Reaches The Soul Hit: 5 Stars
I unsuspectedly walked into my favorite Cd store (something that every music collector has) and to my surprising delite heard Eddies voice grab me by the ear and soul, pinched a nerve and slapped my face. i immediately asked what i was listening to, since i had never heard pearl jam play these tunes before, and i got the "run down" on the album, book and movie. then of course purchased immediately.
this album is very unique, in that it will be pleasing to the Eddie Vedder fans, something interesting to the PJ fans (ye there is a diference), a must have for music lovers/collectors and a whole other creature to the people that it speaks to. i happen to be part of all four of these, so this album is an absolute treasure.
this album could be 20 minutes or an hour and a half in length and it would have the same affect on those whom it touches.
>but then again that's just my opinion......
Free Music Review: Guaranteed Hit: 5 Stars
'Guaranteed' is one of the most beautiful songs I have ever heard. It makes my heart ache every time I hear it. The instrumentals, the vocal, the lyrics, they just send me. I was never a big Pearl Jam fan through the nineties, so don't expect any accolades or comparisons here. I "googled" Eddie Vedder just to find out who he was. I recently rented the dvd and the music has haunted me every since then. I bought the cd and enjoyed listening to it tonight. The 'hidden' track came on while I was busy cooking dinner and I had left the cd in play. I might never have known about it otherwise. This cd is as long as it needs to be. I enjoy listening to several different cds during the course of the evening, and 'Into The Wild' definitely makes it into my playlist. My taste leans toward acoustic, blues, jazz. 'Long nights' is my favorite song on the album. The thing about these songs is that they are true.
Free Music Review: I don't know much Hit: 5 Stars
I love the movie. I didn't want to watch it; it didn't interest me. I watched it. I loved it. I watched it again. I loved it more. A huge part of what I like about the movie is the music. I tell everyone the movie reminds me of Harold and Maude. They are both about young men and focus on their outlook on life and the world. And then there is the music. Cat Stevens and Eddie Vedder. The stories are incredibly similar; the music in both is amazing.
Come to fine out Hard Sun is a remake. I am DESPERATE for the original, based on what I've read. Not knowing the original, I think the version here is simply amazing. Thank you.
Aside from this one song... the soundtrack is beautiful. I've always appreciated Pearl Jam from afar, but the music in this movie spoke to my soul immediately.
OK... at a loss for words. Love this music; love the movie.
Free Music Review: Great Music... Hit: 5 Stars
When I was a teenager I read Into the Wild. The book has haunted me ever since. While I have yet to see the movie, I can say that the music is worthy of the story it serves to help tell.
The story of Chris McCandless touches on something locked deep in the heart of almost every young American male that has ever lived. It is about the search for freedom, for the wild, for truth.
The songs on this disc are echoes of those goals/thoughts.
In a disc of strong songs, I find Rise to be my favorite. It is not the longest or most profound song here, but it reaches out. It calls us on.
Eddie Vedder was a great choice, maybe the pefect choice, for this CD. He takes a step sideways from his usual Pearl Jam fare. He has made a GREAT CD.
I give the Soundtrack for Into the Wild my highest recommendation.
Free Music Review: Eddie Vedder the way I like him Hit: 5 Stars
I read the book, I never saw the movie, and I love this soundtrack. I bought it simply because it's Eddie Vedder: I've always loved his voice, but found a lot of Pearl Jam songs a bit "heavy" for my liking. When the "I Am Sam" soundtrack came out, I got it because of his rendition of the Beatles' "You've Got to Hide Your Love Away". Same story with this CD. I enjoy Vedder a lot more when I can hear him sing, when the sound is almost accoustic, simpler and purer; when the emotion is raw but subtle, not blaring.
The first couple of times I listened to this CD, I felt it was a tiny bit out of whack. But then, suddenly, it just began to grow on me. And to this work's credit, the songs actually reminded me of passages in the book, meaning it is indeed an effective soundtrack. Can't recommend it enough.
