Free Music Review: Spiritual
Hit: 5 Stars

I read the book about a year ago, it stunned me; I then saw the movie about a month ago and it silenced me; I then bought this soundtrack and it Moved me!! I run, similar to Chris's passion for running in the woods, solo, with nature and now with Eddie and his great passionate music that resonates throughout my body and spirit.

I think that many people are moved by the book, movie and now the music because each of us have had those feelings of wanting to escape the everyday humdrum of society and what is expected as normal living. This music, while running, is the ultimate existential experience I have ever had, it makes me feel Chris's pain as did Krakauer!

Get this soundtrack, put it on your MP3, crank up Society and run through the woods, you'll never want to stop!!!

Free Music Review: Great soundtrack that enhances the film AND can stand alone!
Hit: 5 Stars

I read this book in high school and was really looking forward to the film. I loved LOVED this movie and cannot say enough good things about it! It was better than expected. The soundtrack greatly added to the film, enhancing the stunning cinematography (if that's even possible). It captured the amazing story of Chris McCandless--as sorrowful as it was uplifting. Eddie Vedder was a great credit to the project. Vedder's voice both captures the spirit of life on the road and the haunting turns in McCandless's path. The vocals and instrumentals allow you to make the journey with Chris. I HIGHLY recommend this CD (& it's currently on repeat in my car). It allows you to immerse yourself in the spirit of the story. Check out the songs: Long Nights, Hard Sun, and Society.

Free Music Review: It doesn't get any better than this
Hit: 5 Stars

I bought this album on my way home from the theater showing of "Into the Wild." I saw the film after reading the Jon Krakauer book. I read the book after reading the "Outside" article on the film. Suffice it to say, I am into "Into the Wild."

Therefore, I acknowledge being extremely biased. However, I've been listening to this album for more than 6 months, and it retains its attraction.

I have not experienced such a perfect blending of music and film since "Easy Rider." In fact, this is better.

All of the songs are wonderfully lyrical. This is "Rocky Mountain High" for a new generation.

For real fun, grab an acoustic guitar and a capo and wail out "Hard Sun." The intro tickles me to death!

Free Music Review: Very Beautiful Music Track
Hit: 5 Stars

The film is a great film -- but it would not be what it is without this soundtrack. As an editor I think I can say with confidence that the most effective emotional cues in films are in the music track, and this film is filled with very strong emotion. Something in Eddie Vedder resonated with the story, and the synergy benefits the film enormously.

Frankly, I've been waiting for Mr. Vedder to explode from all that tightly wrapped passion of his... but I'm extremely glad that instead of spiraling into some awful kind of personal destruction he's able to channel that energy into this kind of artistic effort rather than the who-knows-what insane act of passion he sounds capable of when he performs. This is wonderful.

Free Music Review: Better Than Evver Vedder
Hit: 5 Stars

It is a joy to hear the mature Eddie Vedder. "The Wolf" alone is worth buying the album. Reminded me of the Bulgarian Women's Choir, and I mean that as a compliment since those girls really kick butt.

Vedder finds that uncomfortable place between human expression and the untamed animal spirit. Always has - that's why he is, imho, so captivating. I'm glad he's still angry. God knows he's got no shortage of things to be angry about - I'm right there with you, Ed. One word: war. That's all I'm saying.

What a perfect choice Penn made. I can't imagine anyone else singing these songs.

If I had three thumbs, they would all be up. :)

ps nod to great backup singers :)
