Free Music Notes for Music for the Motion Picture Into the WildFree Music Review: Venturing Into The Wild Hit: 5 Stars
In the month before this soundtrack, and movie's release, i picked up a copy of the book Into The Wild and read it. I thoroughly enjoyed it. While reading, I could tell that Eddie would definatly add to this atmosphere. That he does. He displaes McCandless's emotions so well. Several songs are upbeat and full of hope, while others are of lonliness and the road. This depicts so many different emotions, and is truely a beautiful album.
This differs so much from any Pearl Jam album. The songs are a bit short, yes, but it is a great piece of music to own. I would review the songs, but words do it no justice. Decide for yourself. I highly recommend it to any fan of Eddie or of beautiful, heart-felt music.
Free Music Review: an emotional and powerful soundtrack... Hit: 5 Stars
This is a great album. Eddie Vedder provides an emotional and powerful soundtrack. It's nice to finally hear a complete solo album without the band. This album demonstrates his style, which is prominent in the Pearl Jam sound, but not alone. His bandmates contribute much to the style of Pearl Jam, so it's nice to hear what is left when you strip away their hard rock influence and we get to hear what Eddie Vedder is presently all about. His guitar playing is better than ever. His singing is as awesome as ever. The songs, some by him, some by others, are appropriate for the story, not just a little bit, but dead on what "Into the Wild" is all about. Overall a masterful record that belongs in your library.
Free Music Review: Could anyone else have done this soundtrack? Hit: 5 Stars
Chris McCandless' life story demanded someone with a voice that's evocative, but spare. The instrumentation needed to be varied, but simple. I had no idea Eddie could play all the instruments he's used to create the musical landscape for this soundtrack. This is pretty impressive musicianship.
"Hard Sun" is the song that's gotten most of the play from this CD. It's one of my favorites as well as "Society", "Far Behind", and "Setting Forth."
In my opinion, this is a CD that's not just for the Pearl Jam fans, but people who love good, solid acoustic music are going to enjoy "Into the Wild" as well and nobody could have done it better than Eddie Vedder.
Free Music Review: "Happiness is only real when shared with others..." Hit: 5 Stars
This is great music. Rise, Hard Sun and Guaranteed are favorites but the entire soundtrack is really outstanding.
Not a movie score but a series, almost a suite, of songs that perfectly capture McCandless' tragic but inspiring wanderlust. Trust the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences to utterly get it wrong again by not nominating at least one of the songs; they apparently forgot two great songs from Brokeback Mountain, too, but then the Academy have a three-week attention span, and a terror of all things new.
Vedder and company have made some great sounding stuff here, to drive to, to think to, to wander to. A beautiful accomplishment.
Free Music Review: A masterpiece. Hit: 5 Stars
Having been a dedicated Pearl Jam fan for over 16 years, I bought this album as soon as it was released. Now I can't seem to stop listening to it. Among the many great songs on this CD, 'Society' and 'Guaranteed' instantly grabbed me and poured the words straight into my heart. Eddie's baritone voice is as good as ever and perfect at every step. This is a softer, more acoustic, more soulfull Vedder than you will usually find with Pearl Jam - and this is warmly welcomed. Now I just wish this movie was playing within 200 miles of my home. Until it comes out on DVD, I guess I will just have to close my eyes and listen to the soundtrack. Thanks, Eddie.
