Free Music Notes for Eternelle: The Best OfFree Music Review: Eternelle: the best of Edith Piaf Hit: 5 Stars
Almost enough Piaf for a rainy afternoon. It carries me back to my college days of sitting around listening to records and drinking Chianti. It certainly is a nice slice of her career. This is a beautifully re-engineered piece of work. Nothing seems to have been lost, and the listener is the benefactor. As suggested by several folks, this is the way to get the best of her work w/o having to wade through all 2000 of her albums. I love Piaf and I love this album.
Free Music Review: You'll love this CD! Hit: 5 Stars
I was introduced to Edith Piaf's music through the biopic on her life, La Vie En Rose. Not long after, I bought this CD, and I play it almost every day. Her singing is so infectious and full of feeling, it makes me smile just to hear it. I may not be able to sing along (one day!), but I love it. The selections range from jubilant, to contemplative, to amusing, to sorrowful. Every song is outstanding. Buy this CD -- you won't be sorry.
Free Music Review: Essential Piaf Hit: 5 Stars
Eternelle: The Best Of. Pure essence of Piaf, raw and gutsy, a must have for any Piaf lover. This record shows the many facets of this wonderful singer; true some of the sound is a bit rough but the tracks were recorded live up to 60 years ago. There is nothing more to be said, this is a top of the list recording.
Free Music Review: Rare Beauty Hit: 5 Stars
The beauty and power of Edith Piaf is very well represented in this CD. Her voice and delivery of song is unique, and unmistakable. She defined a long period of french music, and reflected so much of the spirit of the times between the World Wars.
I listen to this over and over as I work on my play "Chanson", about her life and that of Jacques Brel. It is an inspiration
Free Music Review: Piaf de resistance! Hit: 5 Stars
She slides out of the past as charming, husky, and melancholy as ever. She is as relevant today as yesterday. The CD is crispy and powerful and provides us with a perfect meme of 1930's Parisian nightlife.
Thank you, Sparrow, for your wonderfully tragic life and miracle voice!Thank you, Amazon, for making this available to lovers of soulful music of all ages.
