Free Music Notes for Heaven's DustFree Music Review: all fantastic, look for hidden track Hit: 5 StarsThe whole thing is A+++. I was surprised to learn that the singer is American, she certainly has an international vocal sound.
I'm mostly writing this to clue listeners to the hidden bonus track. It starts about 23 minutes into the last track (you've got about 19 minutes of silence!). It begins with a good oud solo, the second half is okay. No vocals.
Free Music Review: arabic celtic folk music Hit: 4 StarsI like this album very much. Sort of haunting and meditative. There's bonus material tacked on to the last track, but preceded by 15 minutes of silence. It's rather annoying since you can't just jump to the start of it. I usually push a button to start the disc over and skip over the bonus music.
Free Music Review: ye-ye alien Hit: 4 StarsI am mesmerised by this CD from EKOVA. HEAVEN's DUST is a cauldron of crafty conundrums. The sound is mystically not what it is. Case in point, France has nothing to do with Ireland and neither does "In My Prime", yet, it is everything to do with the ballad told. The bard is a supernal siren chanteuse poising as a human with knowledge of the mysteries of the Orient. It is to my advantage, I suspect, that I have no knowledge of the terrain because it makes a song such as "Sister" sound more foreign. The same can be said of "Todoism", however, that might simply be a twelve-bar blues. Mediteranean guitar melodies and riffs which conjure images of flamenco appear on "Taksim". I sense a childlike discovery of something new as if hearing music for the first time, and yet, it is music I have always heard. My favourite of this collective consciousness is captured in "Venus and One". It seduces me to weightless fantasies. If you are interested in music which derives from Mediteranean and Oriental sources to produce melodies which are sensual and breathless, this CD will interest you.
Free Music Review: WOW!!! Hit: 5 StarsThats as crazy as it gets!!BRAVO, EKOVA !!! (For those who appreciate this kind of music, I would also like to recommend Vas, Dead Can Dance, Lisa Gerrard, Stella Mara - Star of the Sea, Sorma - Mirage of the East , and, well, I guess, Agricantus. And should anyone have suggestions too, e-mail me at valklak@telusplanet.net ).
Free Music Review: Heaven's Dust is Heaven's Language Hit: 5 StarsIf there is a Heaven, this is what it sounds like and if there are angels there this is how they sing. The only shortcoming of this CD is there are not enough tracks.
