Free Music Notes for Elaine Stritch - At Liberty (2002 Original Broadway Production)Free Music Review: Elaine Stritch - She's more than just terrific - she's real Hit: 5 Stars
Ok, so I am an Elaine Stritch fan to begin with - I have been an admirer of hers as a performer for many years; However, I've never quite known the kind of human being she is - well, she's a survivor and a winner. This double CD set, recorded live, presents Ms. Stritch out and open for all to see - honest, dramatic, sad, funny - yet in all ways, very, very real! If you have any interest in good tunes, good stories, and getting a brief view of a "real star" you've got to listen to this CD.
Free Music Review: Not enough stars Hit: 5 Stars
Elaine Stritch is a STAR in the truest sense of the word. The term may be applied to others, but as demonstrated in her Broadway show and now captured on disc, she is the ultimate star for whom others may aspire to emulate. Although this cd does not capture all that's in the show, it preserves enough that this is indispensable. The great songs are all there and the gossipy banter between numbers is very revealing and entertaining. You'll not regret buying.
Free Music Review: TIME WITH 5 Stars
Yes, a 'Stritch in Time' is worth a thousand bucks [a thousand? Make that a few million] - SHE should charge us for this autopsy of the soul. BRILLIANT woman - she's our secret weapon - THIS is what the Spirit is all about. To say more about her work would be to betray - this is an acting BIBLE for the neophyte - Raw, Real and very, very moving.GET IT? Oh, Yeah, you'll laugh - you will cry and you will feel this one to the core - and walk away refreshed, and new! GOT IT? Good!
Free Music Review: A National Treasure Hit: 5 Stars
This double CD is stuffed full of great songs and amazing stories. My favorite stories are of Elaine's date with Marlon Brando, what she thought some lyric are/meant, and her time in Compant. The total honesty that she brings it all together is touching and inspiring.
Very few people have the length or variety of a career that Elaine Stritch has had. I am sure that she has enough stories to do ten more shows.
If you love Broadway then you must buy this CD.
Free Music Review: Fantastic!!! Hit: 5 Stars
Elaine Stritch. I've been a fan of hers since she did a sit-com over here called Two's Company with Donald Sinden way back when. This is fan-bloody-tastic. It's funny, poignant, raucous, outrageous and so honest at times that it sends a chill down your spine. And she can sing too. I recommend the Ethel Merman section to anyone who appreciates a good story, perfectly delivered. In October she's coming to London for 40 performances at the Old Vic. I can't wait!
