Free Music Notes for Elaine Stritch - At Liberty (2002 Original Broadway Production)Free Music Review: Wonderful the first two times Hit: 4 Stars
This is an album that you will enjoy immensely for the first two listenings, but it wears thin pretty quickly. The performance is marvelous, but because it's strength is not in the performer's presentation of songs but in her personality and delivery of stories and anecdotes, after you have heard the stories and anecdotes a few times, you lost interest. People who love theater should definitely own this album, but people who like to listen to albums dozens of times or more should be aware that this one will go on the shelf pretty quickly.
Free Music Review: Buy the DVD Hit: 4 Stars
To appreciate this show to full effect..buy the dvd. It's even better then being in the theatre as you get that real close up effect. Not sure that you would want to watch or listen to it more than a couple of times...but its still a recommended release.

Completely entertaining---a bit maudilin in places, but a must have for any Elaine Stritch fan.
Certainly worth the money!
Free Music Review: Entertaining but grating on the ears Hit: 3 Stars
I've never been able to understand what is so great about Elaine Stritch's singing. It's simple: she can't sing. I've tried and tried to like her, and I do, as an actress, but NOT as a singer. Listening to these CDs, all I hear is a grouchy old lady voice with no vibrato, no range, and no ability to hold notes. If she were to try out for American Idol she would get cringes! I love her humor and honesty, and that's why I bought this, but the voice...ugh.
Free Music Review: Ick Hit: 1 Stars
While the actual show has a fine set up and a good sense of timing, Elaine is off, old, tired, and its time to put her down. She can't sing for her life, so I do not recommend this CD for any customers who want to hear a good showtune or two, because you'll get Elaine's interpretation of a good showtune, which is most offensive. Sure, she's funny, but her singing is out of tune and scratchy. Most importantly, her life is not very exciting or eventful. All she is really known for is singing "Ladies Who Lunch", from Sondheim's show, Company, which is half forgotten already. In another 15 years nobody will even remember her. No memorable movies or television shows. She is, however, very funny, which is entertaining to listen to... but still, she can't sing and will soon be forgotten. True, she did win a Tony award, but even from that she'll be known as the old biddy who made a fool of herself after accepting the award she's been waiting so long for... VERY dissapointing
