Free Music Notes for You Are My Little BirdFree Music Review: Great for babies! Hit: 5 Stars
Our son is 7 1/2 months old and has been listening to this CD for four months. He now sways side to side when the first track comes on and moves to the best of his abilities with nearly all the songs - he loves this music a lot! I first heard about this CD on NPR and was curious - glad I ordered it and we will be getting more of Mitchell's music.
From an adult's viewpoint (and a first-time mom), I can listen to this CD every day, sometimes many times in a day, and suffer no ill effects as some children's music can cause the dreaded "stuck-in-the-brain-itis." I love to whisper these songs to my child when he's getting annoyed in public spaces - it calms him down.

Free Music Review: Calms the savage toddler Hit: 5 Stars
Sweet and mellow, Elizabeth Mitchell's music calms the savage toddler. My 2 year old sometimes gets anxious during car rides and this CD bring us much needed peace during our car rides. A great collection of songs. I couldn't believe my years when he started to sing along to "I've got peace like a river in my soul." To hear your little one sing these songs will bring a tear to your eye. They are just so sweet. I was worried as an active boy that this would not appeal to him, but it is exactly what is needed at times to calm him down and take a reprise from jumping around and spinning! I plan to buy this again. It would make a great gift for someone having a new baby or a first birthday.
Free Music Review: Kids' music that works for grownups, too Hit: 5 Stars
We love this CD! Pretty Little Baby, Little Bird, and Little Liza Jane have become favorite songs for my 3 month old. Elizabeth Mitchell does a great job of pulling together songs from the American tradition and beyond for this collection, lending her sweet, folksy voice to some of the oldest and best known children's songs.
I love to hear her husband and daughter singing with her on some of the songs, too. It's nice to hear someone who doesn't seem to be putting on a big, keyed-up show to entertain the little ones. She's just having fun and enjoying herself singing, and you and your baby will, too, when you listen.
Free Music Review: Same story as the others... the kids LOVE this CD! Hit: 5 Stars
I bought this CD and played it first in the car. My almost 5 year old daughter immediately took a liking to the CD. She was quite excited to learn that the singers were family members, and now alludes to them by name (she calls Elizabeth Mitchell's daughter "Storey"). My other children (ages almost 3 and 10 months) also adore the CD, and it has become a regular post-dinner habit to listen, dance, and sing along with the music. They know the lyrics, and even sing along with the Japanese and Korean songs! Unlike other children's CDs, this CD will still be played even if the kids are not around. It is absolutely captivating.
Free Music Review: The perfect gift for families with children Hit: 5 Stars
I learned about Elizabeth Mitchell and this album in a recent interview on NPR (October, 2006). They interviewed Elizabeth, her husband and their 5-year-old daughter and aired a few live performances. I fell in love with this family and their music instantly. I was instantly transported back to the days my mother used to sing with me. These are beautiful perfomances of heirloom quality childrens songs that are certain to leave a lasting impression on everyone in the family. I am getting ready to order a bunch of copies to have on hand for Christmas gifts and baby showers.
