Free Music Review: Great concept and outstanding Christmas duets with Elvis

I love this CD and recommend it everyone. However, it is impossible (not that they were trying) to improve on Elvis's wonderful Christmas music. This CD represents a great marketing strategy utilizing some of country's best known female artists to expose his delightful and memorable holiday music to a wider demographic (way to go Priscilla). Personally, I would have selected a more diversified group of performers for these duets especially to include Celine Dion. I also would have included other great Elvis Christmas classics such as "If Everyday Were Like Christmas","The Wonderful World Of Christmas","Holly Leaves And Christmas Trees", On A Snowy Christmas Night", It Want Seem Like Christmas Without You", and "I'll Be Home On Christmas Day" just to name a few. I must confess that I am not a huge Elvis fan. It isn't that I don't like Elvis but to be honest, I just never paid much attention to him. I bought this c.d. because I am a huge Anne Murray fan. I am so glad that I did because this c.d. really exposed me to some beautiful and festive holiday music. I loved every track on this c.d. and found Elvis's voice to be so deep, reverent and unique that I will have to check out more of the King's catalog. The lovely ladies who share their voices on the disc also do a fine job. Carrie Underwood, you make me believe that reality television may not be the end of the world and Martina Mcbride is sterling. So for those of you like me that may only have interest in one song because your favorite artist is on it, I would say, check out the whole c.d. It is lovely and I enjoyed trimming my tree to these songs.Free Music Review: Old is Gold!

November 6, 2008 - the date I met up with 2 very old friends and what a suprise it is was. Firstly James Bond 007 - great show and Craig is smashing.
Secondly, I bought and listened to the "new" album from Elvis with duets with the biggest Country and Gospel female stars of today. What a cheerful start to Christmas. The new digitally mixed album with new orchestrations and vocal was like Elvis never left us. I love ONJ's duet, simply smashing... American Idol Underwood is super too.
Now this is one Christmas album that people will listen to for generations (just like the concept of the now classic Natalie Cole's Unforgetble). For me, it is also Elvis back to his roots of Country and Gospel. Amen for that !

I don't know how many times I've bought Elvis' Christmas EPs, LPs and
CDs but there's always something new about it. From his classic 1957
LP we have 7 songs that have been re-recorded by many of the original crew + the today's female C&W stars. The music, although sounding
exactly as back in '57, is so fresh that it really sounds like if
the king were singing and recording them today. Sometimes today's
technology should even convince the "purists" of the way this whole
project has been presented. There's nothing wrong with having the
original Elvis recordings mixed with today's country stars and
above all enhance the original music. A brilliant result!

I grew up listening to Elvis, & we always had his Christmas albums playing all through the season. I had many of them that we had when I was a child, but they were lost in a fire, so now I am working on replacing all of them with CD's. This duet CD is wonderful, it has all of my favorites, & the duets with the singers of today is nothing short of awesome. Blue Christmas has always been my favorite, & you would swear he is right there with Martina McBride singing it on this CD. How ever they put other artists in singing with him is just amazing.
Any Elvis fan, or even those that aren't, but enjoy Christmas music, will love this CD. It is worth every penny paid for it.
