Free Music Review: It's not Rammstein.. but it still kicks serious ass Hit: 4 Stars
One of the guitar prodigies of Rammstein has branched out on his own to create an American sound from German heritage, Emigrate. This band derived from the talent of Richard Kruspe is packed full of guitar driven, in your face songs.
Richard, singing in English, provides more insight as to who he is as a person and not as a musician. With one of the first singles being "New York City" (where he lives), we get the first glimpse at Richard seperated from his German musician brothers, and get the real deal of how is brain ticks. His music is tasteful, and his singing is done very well, although he stays within a certain range (which is why I marked it down one star). Some highlights of the album are below:
Emigrate - this hard hitting song I think is a metaphor for Richard wanting to expand his roots into the American heritage. Drum and guitar filled until the very end, this song packs a hell of a punch.
New York City - not quite hard hitting, just catchy as hell.. "now it just feels like energy, New York City will never sleep". Its a great song to bob your head to and enjoy and love the sound, great great song.
Babe - this song will always be remembered.. "babe, you dont have to be afraid, in my eyes". This ballad he sings is beautiful til the very end, he uses his voice very well in this one.
Free Music Review: Good Album Hit: 4 Stars
I love Rammstein so I decided to check out Richard's solo project. I must say I do enjoy the album in an overall sense. Most of the song sound great. My only qualm with it is the presence of so many slower depressing songs. Maybe its just because I am so used to the sound of R+ but this album left me a little.....eh. Still a good CD, just don't expect a group that sounds like R+
Free Music Review: Good debut Hit: 4 Stars
This is not a bad album considering that it was not Rammstein. Some of the songs are quite catchy and are those that you can listen to again and again. I wish there were a few more songs that were faster and heavier, but nothing can be perfect.
Free Music Review: So so, a good listen but nothing to blow you away Hit: 3 Stars
A long time Rammstein fan (obviously) - I looked forward to listening to this album. And all I can really say is - it's ok. Some really good sounding instrumentation, and at times some really rocking vocals. But those moments are few and far between. I think Richard has made a distictive sound for himself, while still keeping some of his Rammstein roots still alive. It's worth a listen if you are into rounding out your music tastes (esp if you're a Rammstein fan)
