Free Music Review: A GREAT (i mean it man!!) soundtrack by a great team!!!!
Hit: 5 Stars

Ok you saw the above title in many other reviews (i think!) and now you sort of think that the only good reviews are the ones with a one or two star "cuz they make sense"!! But damn, don't you realise?! we're talking about a soundtrack which a a legendary emcee: Rakim together with "White Pac"-Eminem who will surely will be a legend together with others. The fact that there are these two emcees together is already a big deal!! Then you have the "prince" emcees like Nas and 50 Cent!! How can u dare say that this soundtrack is wack?!! Eminem's got 3 excellent songs with great flow an lyrics which can be greatly associated with the film. In my opinion his best one is "8 Mile" !! Rakim's got his very own original flow in almost every song that he makes, and even in "R.A.K.I.M." !! His lyrics will make you hypnotized!!! 50, as a new-comer in the Shady family, has two solos and two collaborations (with D-12 in "Rap Game", and with Obie Trice an Eminem in "Love Me")!!He's amazing cuz he's got serious themes in his lyrics but the way he relates them is quite humourous so it keeps you interested!! Nas made his imprint in the rap game with his debut "Illmatic" which undoubtley is a classic, in "U Wanna Be Me" he disses Jay-Z, which is the only thing that bothers me about Nas, but if you forget this fact, Nas is another great lyricst although he ain't funny like his "cousin" 50! Nas is an honest rapper and presents you reality whether you like it or not, and that is what makes me admire him!! The rest of the songs are quite good especially Xzibit's "Spit Shine" and Obie's "Adrenaline Rush" which are both gritty!! To add a bit of a different flavour Macy Gray and Boomkat each have song in the soundtrack which are ok, especially Macy's happy song "Time Of Your Life"! Now I saw a review that said that you can't label any rapper as great; "elvis was great", "santana was great"!!! But man, just because rappers don't "sing" it doesn't mean they don't have talent!!! I'm neither gonna say that Rakim's better than Santana, nor I'm gonna say the contrary!! They are from a totally different type of music!! Rakim specialises in lyrics an tries to create an original FLOW of WORDS, Santana specialises in the classic and electric guitar in the Latino music, and tries to create an original FLOW of MUSIC!! And about profinaty??!! One thing: RAPPERS ARE ALL PRACTICALLY HONEST!!!!! They ain't gonna hide anything that they didn't learn from the streets!!!! And whoever is sayin that Eminem is the only good emcee in the cd is wrong!! Eminem is ONE of the best but NOT THE best!!! And it's a clear fact!!!

Free Music Review: Superb Soundtrack!
Hit: 5 Stars

Let me start off by saying that Eminem is the best that he has ever been on this soundtrack, while the other songs can disappoint. Let me show you what I mean. For Eminem, his new songs Lose Yourself, 8 Mile, and Rabbit Run are some of the best that he has ever written. They even rank among the likes of The Real Slim Shady, Stan, and The Way I Am. Lose Yourself just even won Best Original Song last night at the Academy Awards. Even for fans of Eminem like me, I think that this was a shocker. Eminem had to compete among other greats in the music business including U2 among others, and he still pulled away the Oscar. This is even more amazing because no fans of him voted, just the Academy of Performing Arts which includes actors, writers, and directors. I was watching the award presentations, and I was very shocked, just as Barbara Sreisand, the presenter, was as well. I thought that he had no chance. There's one more accompishment for this master of music! But my point is on this soundtrack, Eminem does exceptional for even Eminem. I couldn't say that about most of the other songs. D12 and 50 Cent come away with other great songs, especially "Wanksta" and "Places to Go" by another great rapper, 50 Cent. Even Taryn Manning made a good contribution with her sexy, seductive vocals on the soundtrack. But as the other artists, which included veterans like Xzibit and Jay-Z, they're songs were very disappointing. I also found the fact that Dr. Dre nor Snoop Dogg performed on the album very disappointing. Then you have the wankstas that can't sing at all. They include Obie Trice, who has a nice beat on "Adrenaline Rush", but comes away with petrifying vocals to back it up. And Young Zee, well, I just won't get into that. What were the producers smoking on "That's My Nigga Fo' Real"? They really just aren't good contributions to this otherwise great album. Also, Eminem does a great job with pulling in elements from "8 Mile" into his songs. Many artists just can't do that. I know that some fans will be disappointed to hear about Jimmy Smith Jr. and other characters from the movie, but what can you do? The album is still a movie soundtrack. "8 Mile Original Soundtrack" is still better than most soundtracks, but I just wish that all of the songs could have been as good as "Lose Yourself" and "8 Mile". Above all, Eminem can pull the album all by himself, so if you like him, then you are 100% guaranteed to find the album somewhat enjoyful and worthy listening to until the next "Marshall Mathers LP" hits stores!

Free Music Review: Absolutely Amazing.........
Hit: 5 Stars

I own one of Eminem's CD's and I have always been a distant fan of his work but when I first heard a song off of this album (first song I heard was "Love Me" by Obie Trice, Eminem + 50 Cent) I knew that I would have to go seek the out the rest of the soundtrack. I am not as in-depth in Em's work as obvious die-hard Em fans are but I'd have to say that the work he did on this album has to be some of the best stuff I've heard from him as of yet. Also, the hype on the street of 50 Cent as well as the movie itself made me get this CD. What can I say.... The CD didn't disappoint at all!

1) For all the radio-airplay heads out there, you must've heard "Lose Yourself" many-a-times already. I like the song but it definitely isn't one of my favorites on the album. -3.5 outta 5
2) "8 Mile" is a very deep track by Em and it is one of the better tracks on the CD. -4.5 outta 5
3) One of my favorite tracks on the CD. "Run Rabbit Run" is just a straight-up hard track and Em totally goes off on this song. -5 outta 5
4) "Love Me", another favorite of mine. Listen to 50 Cent's verse and you'll love this track too. -5 outta 5
5) "Places to Go", a banging 50 Cent track. -4 outta 5
6) "Wanksta", 50's upcoming 1st single is definitely a radio-banger. -4 outta 5
7) "Rap Game" isn't really a track I've listened to a lot. Just not a big fan of D-12. 2.5 outta 5
8) Nas's track on this CD is surprisingly sub-par for his standards. 3 outta 5 (solely on respect)
9) "8 Miles and Running" is definitely a track I rock to. Freeway IMO is a great up-an-comer. Look out for him coming outta the Roc. 4 outta 5
10) "That's My ...." is an ok track. I don't really roc it at all. 2 outta 5
11) "Battle" a pretty nice song. 3 outta 5
12) Xzibit's song is another that I don't roc much. 3 outta 5
13) "Time of Your Life", why is this on the CD again? Artist selection for this song coulda been way better. 1.5 outta 5
14) I love Bookmat's song "Wasting My Time" I wasn't expecting much from this one but I was thankfully surprised. A very strong r&b joint. 4.5 outta 5
15) Rakim is Rakim...nuff said. 3.5 outta 5
16) Good track by Obie Trice. 3.5 outta 5

Cop this quick...which means cop this yesterday...

Oft used and rarely applicable, the tag "Music from and inspired by the motion picture" means little to most, but it takes on a pretty damn personal role for Marshall Mathers on the accompanying soundtrack to his first movie. Anyone can tell you there's a lot riding on this, and Eminem won't get his own Purple Rain so easily; he's questioned his own failures in life, but has yet to do so in front of his public, though, heaven knows, plenty of people are waiting.
Eminem doesn't give them the chance musically, as he takes the first three tracks with particular vengeance -- there are no potshots at boy bands, diatribes against his mother (not the real one, anyway), or misogynist humor. Instead, there's plenty of fire about coming up from nothing and being everything: "Lose Yourself" may be the most immediate anthem he's yet written; it's certainly more "fight music" than the D12 track of the same name.

Impressive, too, is a fiery, one-breath internal monologue written from the perspective of his on-screen character (what, you thought "Run Rabbit Run" was a John Updike reference?) that's all passionate verse and no chorus.

Eminem's words -- and music, since he produced most of it -- set the rest of the album's tone: Hard, cold and mean. The unified theme has its benefits, keeping things consistent; new material by veterans Gang Starr ("Battle") and Rakim ("R.A.K.I.M.") holds up nicely against next Gen Y guys like Xzibit and Young Zee's surreal funk on "My Ni99a for Real." Macy Gray's cheery "Time of Your Life" is an odd choice, but then this is a soundtrack that puts the feuding Nas and Jay-Z on back-to-back tracks.

Mathers slips only when he tries to play out the movie's rags-to-riches vibe with his friends. Though Shady Records artists 50 Cent and Obie Trice each get a banger ("Wanksta" and "Adrenaline Rush", respectively), their presence on four tracks comes off as rather blatant self-promotion; even Em's alleged ex-girlfriend, actress Taryn Manning, got a song ("Wasting My Time," under the BoomK.A.T. moniker). For a guy whose presence is everywhere on 8 Mile, it would have been nice if he was more vocal about it.

This album is just damn good. I consider it Eminem's 4th cd and just as good as his first 3. Everyone on this soundtrack with the exception of Macy Gray, Boomkat and Nas (the Nas track was disappointing since God's Son and Stillmatic were both great, and I don't know what the hell Macy Gray is doing on here) rips every verse and the production is on-point to say the least.

"Lose Yourself" was unavoidable when it first came out, and is probably going to go down in hip-hop history as Eminem's best song. Then the album goes right into "Love Me", where the Shady Allstars put together smooth flows over a mellow track. "8 Mile", "Adrenaline Rush" and "Places to Go" are all decent 4 star songs from the aforementioned Shady members. Then the album goes into the amazing "Rap Game" from D12 (Eminem and Swift KILL this track) and "8 Miles and Running" from Jay-Z and Freeway, who was unheard of at the time this album came out. The beat is spectacular and Free rips it just as well as Jay does. Xzibit's "Spitshine" is ferocious with a banging beat, and it was really nice to hear Xzibit at his best again. The next two tracks are skip material, but right after that goes into 50 Cent's hot mixtape-diss-turned-single "Wanksta", which is the sole reason I bought his first CD "Get Rich or Die Tryin'" (4 stars). "Wasting My Time" is more filler, but it's forgivable once you see that the next track is by the incredible Rakim. The rhymes definitely dont disappoint, and it's really nice to hear Rakim again. It's a wonder why Dre hasn't got his album off the shelf yet. Young Zee's track is decent, and right after that Gang Starr comes in with an awesome track as usual, both in Premier's production and Guru's lyrics. Eminem finishes the soundtrack off with the short and sweet "Run Rabbit Run", which I heard on the radio a lot at the end of 2003.

Overall this soundtrack is crazy. If you're a fan of Eminem and hip-hop you should have this in your collection along with Em's 2nd and 3rd albums. Standout tracks are:

1) Lose Yourself
2) Love Me
3) 8 Miles and Runnin
4) Wanksta
5) Rap Game
