Free Music Notes for Encore (Deluxe Edition) AlbumFree Music Review: Eminem- Encore Hit: 3 StarsAfter a two-year hiatus Eminem (Marshall Mathers) returns with his latest album "Encore" (2004). After curtains up Eminem starts this joint off by talking to God on "Evil Deeds". Next Emimem analyzes himself and confronts the haters with 50 Cent on "Never Enough", while Nate Dogg provides a smooth chorus midway. The albums first standout track for me is "Yellow Brick Road" a track where Eminem takes it back to 89 telling his story and gives his apology for the racist tape. Eminem continues his introspection on "Toy Soldiers" talking about more of his history and his beefs. One of the albums singles "Mosh" follows, a lackluster political track where Eminem promotes rebellion and criticizes Bush. The next track is the bland "Puke" which has Em talking to his ex kim, rambling "My 1st Single follows. The beat to "Rain Man" is instantly catchy, unfortunately Eminem's lyrics are not- even Em admits to saying nothing at the end of this track. More foolishness follows on "Big Weenie". After a skit, the albums first single "Just Lose It" follows, a hurting track, which makes me wish that Eminem was making tracks like "Lose Yourself". "Ass Like That" is no better. Things pick up when Obie Trice and Stat Quo drop in for the decent "Spend Some Time" a track about being betrayed. Another standout is "Mockingbird" a deep track where Eminem talks and sings to his daughter and niece. "Crazy In Love" is another track where Eminem shows love and hate for Kim. Eminem enlists D-12 for "One Shot 2 Shot", and then hooks up with Dr. Dre and 50 Cent on another standout "Encore/Curtains down". After listening to this one I have to say I am less than impressed, Eminem delivers an album full of rants, boring personal stories, and recycled and played out concepts. Most of these tracks serve no better purpose then one or two listens for me, the album is short on the substantial tracks Eminem has provided on past albums. Eminem has shown in the past that he can make those outstanding tracks, ones that move people; he just missed out including them on this release. All this said the album is not "Wack", Em does have a few good moments. I am confident about two things, first I will get many negative votes for this review and second "Encore" will go Diamond, and get praise from a hell of a lot of people, but this reviewer is not buying into it.
