Free Music Review: Different, but still solid.
Hit: 5 Stars

Ive been reading through peoples reviews, and ive noticed that alot of people don't like this album because they feel that he hasnt changed his "formula" for making a cd. And at the same time other people are saying that he did change his style and they dont like it. Lets look at it this way, people who change their style (Ja Rule, Fabolous, Zane, and even DMX to an extent) get ridiculed for doing so. People will say that "they aint as hard as they were on their debut album", or " they went commercial, or pop". But music (especially hip-hop) is based on that persons life from the time in between cds. So in this case it was between the "Eminem Show" and "Encore". When a cd sells over 16 million copies, thats almost impossible to duplicate. Truth is there will never be another "Eminem Show". This cd shows his maturity as not only an artist but as a father as well (on the track mockingbird). As far as the production goes, I think that it is amazing. He was getting flack from people because they were saying that all of his beats sound alike or similar. On this album he made some amazing beats (Yellow Brick Road, Like Toy Soldiers, Mockingbird, Rain Man, and my favorite Mosh). Those instrumentals are amazing. The Lyrics that he spits on this cd are amazing, granted some are childish. But if lets say Chingy, or Nelly were to spit something like that, people would be goin crazy, because when it comes to lyrics the only person who can MAYBE compete with him is Nas.

Granted there are tracks that are, well lets put it this way "less good" than others, but there are really no horrible tracks on the cd. If every artist could put out a cd where there is not one horrible track, ( I mean everything is bad from production, to lyrics, not even a good hook) than people wouldnt be downloading cds.

Track By track rating:
1- Intro
2- Evil Deeds- 3.75/5 - Decent lyrics/beat/hook. Not his best
3- Never Enough- 5/5 - Amazing lyrics by him and 50 cent. An added bonus was Nate Dogg doing the hook.
4- Yellow Brick Road- 4.5/5 - Explains about the whole racial slurr as a kid. It takes a big man to apologize for something u did before you were famous.
5- Like Toy Soldiers- 10/5 - Best track on the cd for production. Amazing beat/lyrics. Enough said
6- Mosh- 5/5 - controversial song bout the war.
7- Puke- 3.5/5- An ode to kim of how he hates her (another chapter in that story.)
8- My First Single- 3.75/5- Funny song, beat can get annoying, but overall i dont skip past this track while listening to the cd.
9- Skit
10- Rain Man- 10/5 - How does he think of this stuff. An entire song about nothing, absolutely Hilarious. Time to go grab a peanut butter jelly chicken tuna sandwhich.
11- Big Weenie- 4/5- Childish hook, but still a better than average song. Lyrics are good.
12- Skit
13- just Lose It- 4/5- The first single off the cd, and also the last song he recorded from the cd.
14.- Ass Like That- 4.25/5- Another funny song, may get annoying since hes talking like triumph, but i like it.
15- Spend some time- 5/5- Great song, that features Stat Quo, 50 cent, and Obie Trice, and of course Dianna Rae.
16- Mockingbird- 10/5- Incredible song, you get to see a sentimental side of Em. Second favorite track off the cd.
17- Crazy In Love- 5/5- The way the beat switches up from the chorus to hook is just ridiculous.
18- One shot 2 shot- 4/5- Good hook, another crazy song from D-12
19- Skit
20- Encore- 8/5 - Features Dr Dre. nothing more needs to be said.

Another thing to add is that people, are saying that he is going to retire and whatnot, but if you really are an eminem fan and follow him, you would know that he said this cd was just closing this chapter in his life. Apparently he continues to make records and whatnot. Overall this record is a must have for any collection. Next cd to look forward to is 50 cent- Valentines Day Massacre in stores Feb. 15 2005.

Hit: 5 Stars

A lot of people are giving Eminem grief for changing styles and for being different. I find that just obsurd. In the changing of Em's style comes greatness because you get to see just how versitile he really is. With the Slim Shady LP it was his coming out, his arrival and he put a lot of material on that just to set up greater issues he would later discuss on the Marshall Mathers LP. After his first two major releases he set out with the Eminem Show, his third personality that took us even deeper than the MM LP did. We all know how amazing all three albums were and now in Em's fourth release(really his 5th, but Infinite is commonly left out) we find him changing styles again to appease both newcomers and at the same time stay truw to what made him Eminem.
First off, when I broke this CD down more than half of the material discuss's serious issues, so that right there discounts all the claims of him putting out some fluffy record. Of course, it wouldn't be and Eminem record without those comical songs such as "Ass Like That" and "Just Lose It". Bur as a listener of music you have to appreciate the compilation of tracks, instead of trying to single stuff out so that you can falsely accuse him of ridiculous accusations.
This CD is a step in a direction, a story so to speak, that Eminem is stringing us along with. Sure, he isn't the best public speaker and he comes off like a silly kid, but once you pay attention to his lyrics, which by the way he is in top 5 all time of rap lyricists, you realise that he is a man with demons and struggles and whats best is that he conveys it in such a way that he has kept the general public mystified for the past 5-6 years of his arrival.
Now for the track breakdown:
1. Curtains Up N/A
2. Evil Deeds 5/5 when I first heard it I enjoyed it, catchy
3. Never Enough 5/5 short track but energizing with the flow of 50 and Nate
4. Yellow Brick Road 5/5 my fourth favorite track on the entire disc
5. Like Toy Soldiers 5/5 my faovrite, serious, great energy
6. Mosh 5/5 obviously a sick track, displays Em's consciousness for whats happeing these days
7. Puke 4/5 yet another ode to his dear wife Kim, gets you thinking and takes his hatred another step further
8. My 1st Single 4/5 my least fav track on the CD, but still a good one
9. Paul N/A
10. Rain Man 4/5 hard to laugh at joke poked at Christopher Reeves(RIP) but aside from that, a strong track
11. Big Weenie 5/5 my favorite comical track, its a good one
12. Em Calls Paul N/A
13. Just Lose It 5/5 another good song, my seond favorite funny one, catchy, his first single
14. Ass Like That 4/5 pokes fun like usual Em, but in this new direction it seems old
15. Spend Some Time 5/5 at first I kinda liked it, but now I love it after about 3 listens
16. Mockingbird 5/5 my second favorite song, awesome, better than Hailie's Song, deep and thoughtful
17. Crazy In Love 5/5 another song that took me one or two listens to grow on, but after that its catchy and also bout his wife and his constant love-hate relationship
18. One Shot 2 Shot 3/5 my least favorite track, actually bout my least favorite Eminem track, the only song I recommend pressing fast forward on
19. Final Thought N/A
20. Encore 5/5 my third favorite song, great track with Dre and 50 the flow is constantly there, closes the curtains on Em's Encore to the world and now, are we ready for a new stage, who knows?
Overall a great buy, another progression in his arsenal of flows and I garuntee after one or two listens you will have this in your "Best CD" stack

Free Music Review: My favorite CD of my favorite rapper.
Hit: 5 Stars

This is among the best music I have ever listened to. This closes Eminem's rap career in a wonderful way. Here is how I rate all of the terrific songs-

1. Curtains Up(Encore Version)Okay overall, an introduction to the show.

2. Evil Deeds-A very powerful and interesting song. Eminem talks about all of the cruelties he's had to endure in life and how he was often made out to be bad.

3. Never Enough-This song is great. Em talks about how he kept on progressing until he finally became the # 1 famous rapper(and my favorite)he is today.

4. Yellow Brick Road-Well, this song does have its good points. Basically it is about Em's view of how you must achieve your destiny and never give up.

5. Like Toy Soldiers-One of my favorites. Eminem tells the tail of a lot of difficult and hard times he's had to go through, and how he has endured them and also lived to tell the tale.

6. Mosh-I like it pretty good. Eminem tells about how he and many people want to overthrow Bush and make this country safer.

7. Puke-Awesome! This song tells how Eminem loathes his wife Kim for the way she treated him. Lots of swears and puking sounds. Sing it to anyone you hate.

8. My First Single-This song is hilarious! Eminem, with a funny tune and lots of laughable lyrics tells what happened from the start of his career to the present.

9. Paul(Skit)Never listened to it, so my liking is questionable.

10. Rain Man-Another hysterical song. It shows Eminem thinking he is # 1 as a hero, and it says a lot of Superman jokes, too.

11. Big Weenie-Well, the third comedy song! Eminem tells of a man who is very cruel to him, but only because he is jealous that Em is better than he is.

12. Em Calls Paul(Skit)See rating for track 9.

13. Just Lose It-I once said this was my favorite Em song. Actually, it is not, but it sure as hell is one of my favorites! It's both funny and well written, and the tune is superb.

14. Ass Like That-Probably the funniest song on the whole damn album. All about Eminem swaying in between being violated and having, well you know, with the ladies.

15. Spend Some Time-Great tune, great lyrics. It tells of Eminem and Obie Trice handling their relationship with sneaky and decietful women.

16. Mockingbird-To think there were times I hated this song. It is both sweet and touching, all about Eminem's love for his daughter and niece, and his soft side.

17. Crazy In Love-Funny and cool. It is a song about Eminem loving and hating a woman at the same time.

18. One Shot 2 Shot-Very cool. D12 shows up and there is both intense action and hardcore shooting. There is also a very hyped up tune. Yow.

19. I forget the title of this skit. I never heard it either, just like track 9 and 12.

20. Encore/Curtains Down-THIS IS MY # 1 FAVORITE EMINEM SONG OF ALL TIME! A WONDERFUL ENDING TO A WONDERFUL ALBUM! LOTS OF PARTY IN IT!

Anyway, this CD was nearly perfect and is a great way for Eminem, my favorite rapper, to end his career. I wish him and his beautiful daughter a great rest of their lives.

I'm sick and tired of hearing people compare albums. They do so, so much that they spend so much time comparing them and they DON'T EVEN GIVE THE ALBUM A CHANCE! I think this album is awesome. He proves to his fans that he's a genius and he really is. He shows he's matured with various songs(Like Toy Soldiers and others) This album is different from his other ones but IS DIFFERENT BAD? No it really isn't.

All The songs are great but the ones that will catch your attention and maybe become your favorite are "Mockinbird" and "Like Toy Soldiers." In "Mockinbird" he shows his love towards his daughter Hailie and his nephew Lainnie. He basically explains to them in words that little kids can understand what went wrong in his relationship with his Ex-wife Kim Scott. "Like Toy Soldiers" talks about the beefs Aftermath/Shady have faced. He shows maturity in this track because he says that he'd rather leave the rap game than see someone from his crew die or let "a coffin rest in his conscious."

Other tracks like "Ass Like That," "Big Weenie," and "My 1st Single" arent that bad like other reviewers claim they are. The thing is you have to give them a chance. Not just because someone says they are bad necessarily means they are bad, lets remember that its their opinion. People expect so much from him.

without saying, em has the god given talent to be hilarious, and serious when he feels. For those that say "oh, this is not up to par", "this is garbage"... how can that be said. song like mockingbird, toy soldiers, and yellow brick road show that eminem has NOT fallen off. He has the talent (unlike 95% or rappers) to draw a listener into focusing on every single word that he is saying... even in the songs that he doesnt aim to.

for those of youu who expected something on the level of mmlp, and feel that you didnt get it... please tell me why you do think he acheived it, im dying to know what sets these albums so far apart. And STOP comparing his albums.

for me, ive liked each of Em's CD's more and more as they have come out, he has really grown as a producer, being able to do some kanye-like sampling on tracks like toy soldiers, crazy in love, and obie's dont come down. For a minute i thought that all of his beats were starting to sound the same since his signature dark tones, melodies and backgrounds showed in "Delvils Night" on tracks like fight music and Revelation, but on the eminem show, and not encore, he is musicaly, and not just lyrically inclined

eminem, is as strong now as he ever was in my eyes, and he is too smart of a person and a genious in the game to fall off. he knows exactly what hes doing... that and hes only human... people rasie the bar so high for him its rediculous... and people pick apart every single line to ever extent...

...for those of you who are doing that, you are doing exactly what eminem talked about in "the way i am"
...he is smart enough to answer questions about him years before they are asked... hes that good

And this album is GREAT!

I'm not a kid, I'm 18. I just dont have time to be doing tha real name joint. So here I Go. When i first heard this on the leak. on mtv2.com i hated it. i thought that it was a fake and that he fell off. i bought it and i like it alittle bit. i thought i wasnt gonna play it again. But i was wrong the more i listened for more I learned to enjoy. this album is hot. Here are the songs and my opinion on ratings.
Curtains up-n/a
Evil Deeds - aight song the chorus is ok, 4/5
Never Enough - this song is hott, hott beat and lyrics. 5/5
Yellow Brick Road - hot song, great story the beat is pretty good. 5/5
Like Toy Soldiers - One of my favorites. This song is crazy. He is percieved as a real man from this song. 5/5
Mosh - If you listen to the lyrics it's hot. The beat goes with it, but it's not better than white america. 4/5
Puke - Also one of my favorite songs. i think you can't relate to this song unless you hate a girl. The way he sings the song its really a concept for a happy song. With all that whoaaaaa. But i like the way he reversed it. 5/5
My 1st Single - Beat is ok if you put it loud. Lyircs are decent. The best first is da first one. 4/5
Paul - n/a
Rain Main - This song is ok. He's not really talkin about anything. Only in the first few lines of the first verse but it's hot. 5/5
Big Weanie - I really dont like this song. the best first is da second one. He could of done a better song if someone is rappin about jealousy. 2/5
Em calls Paul - n/a
Just Lose it - At first i didnt like this single. But it got hot, as i saw the video. 4/5
Ass Like That - This song is hot. Listen to everyword how he raps about everyone and flows in another accent. The choruses are all hot. 5/5
Spend Some Time - This song is about girls. The lyrics are all hot from all rappers on here. Stat-Quo, Obie, Em and 50. The chorus is good. The beat could of been better. 5/5
Mockingbird - A song about his daughter and niece. Hot ass song, listen to it. One of my favorites 5/5
Crazy in Love - This is not about Kim. everyone thinks its about kim. Listen to da song. Kim is about Eminem's age as they went to high school together. In da song, he say's, "your only 24 but your plenty more mature..." Kim is not 24. Eminem also said its a song to his "dream" girl if he ever found her. He said that on Trl. Hot song. one of my favorites. 5/5
One Shot 2 Shot - Ok songs. Em's verse is da best thats why its da longest. D12 is ok. They are not all that hot. Bizarre doesnt spit is talks. Beat should of been more serious. 3/5
Final thought - n/a
Encore - Hot song, chorus, beat and outro. 50 only had 20 sec. but His presence is always felt. To me this is like a repeat to Say What you Say but it's not better. It's almost as good. 5/5
