Free Music Notes for Encore (Deluxe Edition)Free Music Review: why do u not like this album? Hit: 5 Stars
Eminem fans wanted new material and he gave it to them. He changed his flows, made some funny and serious songs, and added his own production. Yet fans still aren't happy! Everyone's saying they liked him better on The Slim Shady LP and The Marshall Mathers LP. That's when he was putting out stuff nobody had ever heard. Then came The Eminem Show, which was more emotional, dark, and had his best lyricism. During this time he also put out a movie and a soundtrack with a huge number one single. What more do you want from this guy? He's 5 times more original than every other MC in his class, including Nas, Jay Z, Biggie, and EVEN 2pac. Eminem did a great job with Encore, which was meant to entertain us and it did. The funny songs made you laugh and the serious songs made you think. Eminem did a great job as an entertainer, putting out his own beats, using a ton of different flows, and trying out different themes. If Eminem took out all but two of his pop/rap songs and replaced them with songs about all the stuff he's gone through, people would love this album. If we let eminem do his thing and not tell him what to do, eminem'll put out tracks that everyone likes.
Free Music Review: He Still Has It Hit: 5 Stars
There will be a lot of people who, having heard Eminem's other work (the Marshall Mathers LP in particular) before listening to Encore, will dismiss this as nothing special, as I've seen many already have. It's as though people forgot that, even during that great second album, Eminem didn't really say anything, but rather it was how he said it that was so special, and his ability has only become greater on this fourth effort.
His lyrics still come with superior articulation and rhyme schemes that would make Rakim jealous. The two deepest songs, "Mockingbird" and the amazing "Like Toy Soldiers" are worth the price of admission alone. On "Like Toy Soldiers," he takes a page from Kanye West's book and samples little known Martika's "Toy Soldiers," and achieves an effect that rivals, if not beats, Kanye's way of turning older songs into new hooks.
The other material is stellar lyrically, both in terms of delivery and style, rather than substance. Keep in mind though, folks, this is major label rap. If you want substance, go listen to some Talib Kwali or Immortal Technique, not Aftermath/Shady Records.
Free Music Review: Eminem shines! Hit: 5 Stars
This is Eminem's follow up LP for "The Eminem Show." If you liked the last album, chances are you'll like this one too. It's extremely different from the first two albums and has a similar tone as "the Eminem Show." I bought this CD yesterday and most of the tracks blew me away. Listen to "Mochingbird," a melodic masterpiece with timeless lyrics which will deeply drive the listener in to the emotions of the song. Other highlights include "puke" which I thought was hilarious. Try "toy soldiers" which has a very nice touch with the sample of the choir of children in the opening. Some of the skits are the most hilarious I've ever heard. Skits that are worthy of a comedy album. That's the great thing about this album, there are songs that will touch and play on your emotions and ones that will make you down right crack up. I gave this album 5 stars because I think it deserved it. I tried not to compare this album to any of his previous album and even didn't compare it to any other rap or pop album. I just put the damn thing in the CD player and listened to it! worth a buy! I highly recommend this "Encore"!!!
Free Music Review: Encore Review Hit: 5 Stars
I am going to try to give you an unbiased review of Eminem's "Encore." At first listen, I simply skipped thru the CD and thought it was okay. I thought this because, (1)Eminem had a style change that was completely unexpected, and (2) the thought and lyrics took time to come through and really hit the listener. So, after a few more listens, the CD started to grow on me, rapidly. It was not the hard hitting, dead-serious Eminem that listeners have grown accustomed to from his Marshall Mathers Lp and Eminem Show. Instead, it was a more humorous, relaxed style from Eminem. However, there are tracks where Eminem really digs deeps and expresses himself and gives that insightful track like "Till' I Collapse" and "Say Goodbye to Hollywood." So for those on the borderline of decided whether to buy this CD or not, I would say go get it without a doubt. Secondly, dont judge it on your first listen... let it grow on you.
~I would give this CD a 4.5 but this is to balance all the ones its received because that reviewer simply does not like Eminem and didn't give the music a real listen.
Free Music Review: Slim still has it. Hit: 5 Stars
I've loved Eminem since his first commercial album and have been a huge fan of his mucis since, and Encore is as good as anything he's ever done.
His song "Mosh" is the most important work he's ever recorded, a real call to action for a larthargic generation. It's video hit #1 on TRL in record time and for good reason.
Though I don't like his first radio release, "Just Lose It," I usually haven't in his past albums either.
His lyrics in "My 1st Single" are unlike any I've ever heard. I don't think any living rapper could pull this song off, save Eminem himjself. "A** Like That" is one of the funniest songs I've heard him do, and his title track "Encore" (w/Dre and 50) is tight. The beats are awesome as ever (thanks, Dre), and Eminem continues to push buttons.
While I don't think the tracks here are as solid as his tracks on 8 Mile, this is a great album.
You should all get it, even if you only listen to "Mosh." Listen, get inspired, buy a black hoodie, and make a difference!
