Free Music Notes for RelapseFree Music Review: Instantly infectious! Hit: 5 Stars
2009 is so far a historic year. Obama became President. And now Eminem returns after a 5 year hiatus with not one, but two albums. Here's the first of them, Relapse. Relapse 2 is supposed to come out near the end of this year.
Relapse is instantly infectious. It features some of Eminem's best work thanks to the genius touches of long time producer and friend Dr. Dre. Relapse is also the darkest hip hop album that Mr. Mathers has come up with in his decade long career. The opning track 3 a.m. is a clear indication of where the rest of the album is headed, a world that exists in Em's mind, and let me tell you, this world is very dark, disturbing, and eerie. On the contrary, the songs are amazing despite the disturbing subject matter for most of the tracks: the Mother-attacking and satirical My Mom, which discusses the roots of Em's addiction to valium, the dad-attacking and fictional Insane, which talks about a child abuse, the Mariah Carey spoof and very catchy Bagpipes from Baghdad, the celebrity bashing Medicine Ball, in which Eminem dares to make fun of the late Christopher Reeve, and the elusive Same Song and Dance, which talks about a girl being abducted. The first commercial single, We Made You, appears as the 8th track on the album, and it is the ultra Eminem signature song, a satire that spoofs many pop culture figures including Jessica Simpson, Kim Kardashian, and Sarah Palin. Other standout tracks include the beautifully haunting Stay Wide Awake, the Dr. Dre duets Old Time's Sake, and first radio single Crack a Bottle, which also features 50 Cent and is one of the coolest songs Eminem has done in a while, and the future monster hit Beautiful, which is the best track on Relapse in my opinion.
Relapse is one of Eminem's best albums!

Free Music Review: 5 Stars; welcome back Eminem; the rap game misses you Hit: 5 Stars
Eminem is one of those artists that will always face scrunity as well as praise with his twisted lyrics and brutal honesty. It has been about 5 years since eminem dropped the decent cd encore, and now he is back stronger than ever with relapse. He's been gone for a minute dealing with drug and alcohol problems as well as the death of his friend proof(R.I.P). Now, on to my review about relapse.
If this is your first time listening to eminem, you might be turned off by his dark and often twisted lyrics, but I fing them quite funny. The cd starts off with an intro explaining that em has been in rehab and is a little nervous abotu going back into the real world, which leads into one of the darkest songs of the cd and also of of his singles 3 AM. The next 2 songs that follow have eminem talking about how he became hooked on valium and his step-father molesting him. Bagpipes from bagdad has one of the tightest beats on the cd. Here on this track, eminem is talking about mariah carey and nick cannon. The song is funny to me. Some people might complain that eminem hasn't change his lyrical content since his second album, the slim shady lp; but if it isn't broke, them why fix it. For those that like the deeper, softer side of eminem, check oout the song beautiful on this cd. Very nice song. Same song and dance, old time sake, and underground are the vintage hardcore eminem songs.
The most radio-friendly songs on the cd are crack a bottle and we made you. Eminem is also dropping relapse 2 later on in 2009 for those that want another eminem fix. This rap cd in my opinion is the best rap cd out in 2009 so far. If you miss eminem and want to hear those funny, twisted lyrics, then do not hesitate to get this album.
Q'S TOP 7

Free Music Review: competes with his others... Hit: 5 Stars
This album is not for everyone;that is to say, those who prefer pop rap to serious, and beats over lyrics will not enjoy much of this album. Sensitive listeners also may experience difficulty with this album. For the brave, educated listener, however, there is a treat in store for you. This album competes with the Slim Shady LP and Eminem Show for his 2nd best after Marshall Mathers.
Dr. West: funny intro
3 A.M: crazy track, great concept song 5/5
My Mom: comedic way of dealing with serious personal issues. good song 4/5
Insane: lyrics and flow are crazy, despite track being disgusting 5/5
Bagpipes from Baghdad: funny song attacking Mariah and Nick CANNON CANNON 4.5/5
Hello: just Shady reintroducing himself. solid track 4/5
Same Song and Dance: a good track, but old Shady, not really different 4/5
We Made You: doesnt deserve to be on this album. just doesnt fit in any way
Medicine Ball: excellent flow and lyrics, weak hook though 4.5/5
Stay Wide Awake: excellent song, scary old Shady back in action 5/5
Old Times Sake: decent song, one of the weakest tracks though 3.5/5
Must be the Ganja: again, decent, but not special 3/5
Deja Vu: great track, album really picks up here 5/5
Beautiful: another great track. also the only one he wrote high 5/5
Crack a Bottle: good as far as pop rap goes... 3.5/5
Underground: incredible. hardest he's ever spit. best song by far 5/5
The two extra tracks: My Darling-5/5 and Careful What you Wish for-5/5. I dont know why they werent on the album.
Overall, this is an excellent album that only gives us more reason to look forward to Relapse 2, since he doesnt have to worry about getting his name back out again, so there should be even less pop oriented music on there.
Free Music Review: A Big Step Up From 'Encore' Hit: 5 Stars
For one, if you don't like Eminem in the first place, don't review this album. And because he had a drug problem, You don't like him, ok? Second, don't base your review off of four singles, and 30 second clips. Everyone is comparing CD to CD. Think about this, SSLP was 10 years ago, MMLP was 9 years ago, TES was 7 years ago. He's older, things have changed, he can't make the SAME music from 10 years ago.
We Made You and Crack A Bottle don't fit into this album. So do not judge the CD on those two songs. The CD is sick and twisted, just what people wanted him to do. That's what he's doing. And it's not good enough. He does use the "accent" a couple times, but for example in 'Same Song & Dance' it works because he's portraying a stalker/killer, so it sounds believable. He brings up Mariah Carey, wow big deal. People are making such a huge deal about it. Why? It's not like he's talking about Triumpth and using the "voice" in a really stupid way. If you actually listen to the CD, you'll hear he doesn't use it that much.
Listen to the songs a few times, listen to the lyrics, read them if you have to. You will discover it's not as bad as people are saying.
Favorite songs:
Same Song & Dance
Insane
Underground
Beautiful
Deja Vu
My Mom
Hello
Stay Wide Awake
Again also people are complaining about the skits... Dr. West, Tonya, Paul, Steve Berman, Mr. Mathers, that there are too many, but Tonya, Dr. West and Mr. Mathers lead into the next song. And there is ANOTHER CD coming out in a couple months (hopefully) so stop whining about there not being a lot of songs, and too many skits.
If need-be listen to the 2 hour interview on Shade 45 of Eminem giving track-by-track information. Giving you a better idea and understanding of the songs.
Free Music Review: Does not disappoint ! Hit: 5 Stars
I had no idea what Eminem has been up to in recent years.....no idea he was getting off drugs, etc. Since I went through that, too..I relate.
About the CD..not knowing what to expect from this comeback one, yet counting on him to pull off a creative & entertaining CD...am thrilled to say it may be my favorite CD from him, to date!
NOT your typical hip hop or rap, this one..Though it is full of Em's typical humor, sadism and irony it is almost theatrical in a way. (I could imagine it as background music for movies, some of it, of course, horror movies...LOL)
He uses unique , almost middle eastern accents and lyrics....Bagpipes from Baghdad for example.
Somehow, he makes it work. I really do enjoy him without his friends, etc, joining him on songs. Since this CD has very little of other people in it, it makes it that much better for me.
There are beats I've never heard before and they are all very very catchy....I even threw my back out, dancing to it..
Hard to believe someone can sing about rape & murder and it manages to sound almost upbeat..I don't take those subjects lightly, trust that.
The lyrics are not for the squeamish. I feel like he is purging himself of his demons in this music and mine, too. I wish I could explain or critique the CD better but I am at a loss for words adequate enough.
If you've enjoyed any of his music before I would say you'll love this..
I am so happy to hear creative rap again.....so happy he doesn't fall into that same old song & dance.....LOL
I am amazed that he can be sober (?) and pull this off...amazed that his creativity has not waivered.
.....The King is back....and taking no prisoners.
The most original music I think I've ever heard.....thank you Shady/Eminem/Marshall......whoever you are.
