Free Music Notes for The Eminem Show
Free Music Review: Amazing Album With Minor Hitches.
Hit: 4 Stars
Obviously not one of Slim's crowning achievements but still this album deserves my time in writing a review, Before I begin my review I'd like to mention that my favorite song in this album would have to be "My Dad's Gone Crazy" a particular line stuck with me in that song, "My words can make you cry, take you by surprise at the same time, make you dry your lines in the same rhyme." Just stunning. I'm only going to review the "songs" and not the skits.
2. White America 4.5/5:
Eminem use's his "shout" voice in this song and alas to great effect, helping to stur up emotion that is driven by the lyrics, A nice chorus to match the verses.
3. Business 5/5:
The delivery of his rhymes in this song is simply stunning, particularly in the third verse, Dr Dre's involvement in the production of this song is evident by the very G-Funk beat and overall very polished production.
4. Cleaning Out My Closet 4.5/5:
A beautiful song that really that really emphasizes eminem's lyrical ability, this is one of the most lyrical songs on this album and is extremely heart wrenching to listen to, you can almost feel Slim's disdain towards his Mother and Kim.
5. Square Dance 4/5:
More of a novelty song then anything else, however the delivery is still excelent with Eminem throwing quick jabs at Cannabis here and there.
7. Soldier 5/5:
One of my favorite songs on this record, talks about the pressure that is put on him, a nice beat to go with Slim's raps, the hooks are well placed and entertaining, Overall a great song.
8. Saying Goodbye to Hollywood 5/5:
A haunting piano track running barely audible in the background sets the mood for this song, a recount of recent history and his frustration over his life and "hollywood" Nice lyrics with stunning production.
9. Drips 3/5:
The worst favorite track on this Album, mostly due to my disdain towards Obie Trice as a rapper, Obie Trice's delivery in this song while, while passable, really lowers the bar for the entire album. Obie simply can't rap at the level that Marshall can.
10. Without Me 5/5:
A fantastic song, with a stunning first verse taking jabs at the FCC, Dick Cheney and America in general, with beautiful delivery and awesome production this is one of the most enjoyable songs on the track.
12. Sing For The Moment 5/5:
Must be one of the most classic songs from this album, that is a haunting narrative of how Eminem is being blamed because of his music, with a fantastic sample from Dream On by Aerosmith adding to the effect, a stunning song.
13. Superman 4/5:
Not a bad song per say with fantastic verses and delivery but somehow I never did take a liking to this song.
14. Hailies Song 5/5:
A song retelling Eminem's love for his daughter, and Eminem sings in this song, to great affect alas. Slim has a nice singing voice I must say, an enjoyable song through and through.
16. When The Music Stops 4/5:
A full on rap fest with no Chorus or hooks with, I think 5 artists including Eminem, Nice delivery... loved it.
17. Say What You Say 4/5:
Just Dr Dre and Eminem Taking Pot Shots at Jermaine Dupri and Cannabis, an enjoyable song with nice production value.
18. Till I Collapse 5/5:
With Prince's We Will Rock You's beat in the background, this is one stunning song with extremely invigorating lyrics and emotional delivery and Nate Dogg landing a haymaker with the Hooks.
19. My Dads Gone Crazy 5/5:
As I said earlier, one of my favorite songs on the album, Hailie in the song added to the already enjoyable verses, although not as deep as his other songs... One of the most enjoyable listens on this track.
Overall 9/10:
A nice in general, compared with Slim's previous albums a slight let down, but compared with what else is on the market today, this is still a beauty, especially considering artists like Lil' Wayne daring to release disgusting albums like Tha Carter III, a beautiful album in general.
