Free Music Notes for The Eminem ShowFree Music Review: Eminem at his best and worst... Hit: 5 Stars
Eminem has always been about not caring about anything and just trying to cause controversey. Well, he's still going to be causing controversey, but he definitely shows weakness in this album. He shows hate, anger, and love in this very powerful album. If you're expecting the same old Eminem, you've got another thing coming. Let's get to the song reviews.White America - A-: This is a great song, it's a pillar to the fact that America still doesn't get it. He's letting all the parents know he was out to prove to the world how many parents out there just aren't parents. Business - C-: The album quickly hits a low point with this song, this is one of the many songs that make you feel like being tortured by having to sit through it. Eminem has good lyrics, but as long as he's not saying anything, this one just gets lame. Cleaning Out My Closet - A++: This is probably the strongest song he's ever done. It's a message to all about the true situation with his mom. A very powerful song. He shows one weakness right here... his hate for his parents. Square Dance - B-: Another song taking a jab at those that criticize him. There are quite a lot of these. Soldier - B+: This is honestly a song that can scare you under the right circumstances. Eminem has a lot of anger over losing his ex-wife, Kim, and in this song, he really displays that. Say Goodbye To Hollywood - C+: Can't figure this one out myself. It's alright... not the best he's done though. Wait, he hates hollywood... hell, what celebrity doesn't? Drips - D-: I'm sorry, there's no reason for this song to exist. It's lame. Without Me - A-: A throwback to the true Eminem we've come to know. Though, if you think about it, this guy is a true schizo. There's Slim Shady, Marshall Mathers, and Eminem. Pick your favorite flavor! Sing For The Moment - B+: Eminem's version of the hit by Aerosmith, Dream On. I honestly enjoy this song a lot. I don't know what it is, but he's able to always sound so passionate about everything. Superman - C+: This is kind of a weird song, cause it makes no real sense. I guess he's just still angry with women after Kim. Hailie's Song - B-: This song really shows his love for his daughter... another weakness of his. Possibly though, seeing these weaknesses will bring a more artistic and human feel to his work. I'm honestly liking this side of Mr. Mathers. When The Music Stops - F: The only really bad song on this album. It's just a boring one, and you'll most likely skip it. Say What You Say - F+: I can't get into his songs that he writes for rappers he hates. Jermaine Dupri is really horrible, but not worth a song. 'Till I Collapse - A: I feel the desperation of this song. He conveys emotion so well. My Dad's Gone Crazy - B+: This is honestly quite funny. He gets his daughter on the track, and it's really cute and disturbing at the same time... and that's why I like it. So, in coclusion, buy it. Eminem really does get much better with each album. Of course, he also gets a bit more twisted each album too... he's an artist, what do you want? It's the same way Jonathan Davis sounds a bit more sucidal with each CD. Artist just exploit their demons for money... which is a wonderful way to deal with it, in my opinion. At least he's not out there shooting people.
Free Music Review: Surprising Hit: 5 Stars
I'm of a different breed when it comes to music taste. I'm only 22 years old and I'd take 80's rock over any other kind of music. While 99.99% of other people my age listen to the new stuff like alternative, rap, or even Britney Spears, I go for the 80's, 70's, and even a little bit of country. However.....I've never been closed minded when it comes to music. I like a lot of the music from the 90's and a little bit from the 00's (if that's what we call this decade). I like one Britney Spears song, a few rap songs here and there, and even two or three songs from the Backstreet Boys. Unless you count the Space Jam album, I haven't ever owned a rap album. One day when I was on my way to getting something to eat for supper from a fast food restaurant, the local 80's station and other stations that played stuff from the 70's - 00's just happened to be playing songs that I couldn't stand. So I turned it to 103.7, a station that played almost nothing but the hits that are currently taking the world by storm. And what do you know, I had no idea what song it was or who was singing it, but I heard a song called "Without Me" that had an infectious beat and catchy rapping that I liked a lot. Upon finding out it was Eminem, I couldn't believe it. I had cut down Eminem before when my online friends were praising him, even though I hadn't heard any of his stuff except for on short commercials. Come to find out, my mom had his newest album, The Eminem Show, and she said I could borrow it. She even went so far as to say that if I liked it, I could keep it, because she doesn't like it much. "Eh, I probably won't like any songs other than "Without Me", but what the heck? I'll take a listen one day on one of my hour-long road trips to college." I liked almost every song on the whole cd. I like how Eminem tells you his real-life story in many of his song such as "White America." You'll learn by listening to the lyrics that he was born in 1973, that he's not a big fan of his dad, what he thinks of being a famous white rapper, and much more. He even includes a song that's devoted to his daughter with "Hailie's Song." While that's great, what really made this an album that I was glad to add to my collection are the great beats, and most of all, the rapping, even though I'm not a huge rap fan at all. Also, one song, "Sing For The Moment", includes a good bit of the chorus from the classic Aerosmith hit, "Dream On." Gotta love that as well. "My Dad's Gone Crazy" is hilarious, and the album contains five skits. If you like even one song you've heard from The Eminem Show, go ahead and get the whole album, because you'll probably like the majority of the tracks. That's what happened to me. I've found that it's especially good to listen to when you're on the road and you're feeling a little sleepy. It'll keep you wide awake as you listen to the lyrics or simply get down (not literally since you're driving, of course) with the beats. Bottom line: All of Eminem's attention and success isn't due to him being the first white rapper to make it big; he's got boat loads of talent. My Top 5: 1. Without Me 2. When The Music Stops 3. White America 4. Say What You Say 5. Sing For The Moment
Free Music Review: More Like His "Encore" Hit: 5 Stars
"Eminem Show" has been on the streets for some time now, and not yet has its material grown older. At first, I have to admit I didn't like this CD at all. His new style didn't impress me, and I quit listening to the songs for a few minutes in. I was only blown away by the all-time rap classic "The Marshall Mathers LP", that Em had released 2 years before this album. Over the days I listened to it, this CD began to grow on me. One of the other Amazon.com reviewers said that "Eminem is focusing less on pushing buttons...", it went something like that, but you get the idea. As I was saying, Slim Shady has left his "Horrorcore" material, and goes into new directions. Yes, you can find plenty of nasty stuff here like in "Drips" featuring Obie Trice, the duo raps about the brutal and graphic sides of sex, and on two skits "The Kiss" and "Steve Berman" contain plenty of violent gun references. Em has also entered a new form of controversy: politics. On the Slim Shady and Marshall Mathers LPs, he made plenty of Bill Clinton sex jokes, but on songs like "White America" and "Square Dance" he throws even more personall "F--- Yous!" to even more political figures i.e. (Mrs. Cheny and Tipper Gore). All of this explicit content aside, this record is truly amazing.
This one has his best flow and lyrics- hands down. The highlights are:
White America: This noisy single has Eminem take on many conlicts at once. He raps about his "white" color success, how his fans want to be just like him, and how the government can't stand him. Lyric highlights are:
"Its like a f---ing army marching in back of me!"/"If I was black I would have sold half."/"Look at these eyes baby blue..."/"Now they sayin' I'm in trouble with the government, I'm lovin' it!"/"All I hear is lyrics,lyrics,controversy..."
Cleanin Out My Closet: Eminem clears up more shocking things he had witnessed in his childhood with his crazy mom. Good stuff. Lyric highlights are:
"I'm sorry mommaa, I never meant to hurt youuu!"/"Now I would never diss my own momma just to get recognition."/"Its my life, I'd like to welcome y'all to the Eminem Show."/"Hailies gettin' so big now, you should see her, she's beutiful, well you'll never see her, she won't even be at your funeral!"/"Remember when Ronnie died and you said you wished it was me, well I am dead ma', dead as you ever can be!"
Sing For the Moment: Eminem raps about his low points of his superstardome, but also creates an uplifting song that tells the kids to reach towards the stars. Highlight lyrics are:
"These ideas are nightmares to white parents, a kid who wants dyed hair, and who likes earrings"/"This house is a broken home, there's no control, he just lets his emotions go"/"Its all political, and if my music's literall, and I'm a criminal, then how the f--- can I raise a little girl?!"/"They say music can allter moods and talk to you, well then can it load a gun, and cock it too?"/"That's why we sing for these kids who don't have a thing, 'cept for dreams and a f---ing rap magazine."/" That's why we sing for the moment, freeze it and hold it..."
Free Music Review: The Curtains will never close on this rapper! Hit: 5 Stars
This is arguably the best album in my posession. here's a little guide to each song:-"White America" - Eminem has a lot to say about the so called "perfect states" and must try make both the good and lowly sides of America apparent. Listen hard to appreciate the true meaning. "Business" - A truely comical beat and lyrical masterpiece. Eminem throws funny gags and soon sticks in your head. You could get your granny singing along in a few hours, very similar track to "Without Me". "Cleanin Out My Closet" - A touchingly epic tale of pre Eminem. This makes apparent all the chaos and sorrow that was going through the mind of Marshall Mathers through childhood, and how he has come to terms with it all now. "Squre Dance" - A strange and twisted riddle, it's very difficult to seek the true meaning of this song. Have a go! "Soldier" - The hard gangster side of Eminem. Basically he's saying he's a lot more than people make him out to be and this tough gangster style rap makes you feel un-settled with your walkman alone on the streets. "Sayin' Goodbye To Hollywood" - What does Eminem think about leavin' Hollywood? listen well, vibe for a while and he'll tell ya! Quite a moving track! "Drips" - Premiscous sex, drugs, alcohol and a lot of talk of sexually transmmitted diseases. Belongs on the same level as the "Drug Ballad" on the Marshall Mathers LP. "Without Me" - The song everyone knows annd loves. Eminem see's himself justifying his music. He knows his music is crude and gives kids ideas. So now he's saying in a comical way that kids will listen to his music and even the superpowered rapper himself isn't gonna stop 'em. This is by far the best track on the album because it's so well known. "Sing For The Moment" - The most touching and heartfelt of all eminems songs. a slow beat and excellent guitar by Joe Perry of Aerosmith. This track has emotion and a lot of Marshall's view on how he see's his fans. "Superman" - Em's thoughts on women and love. And typically he has to throw in some drugs. It wouldn't be the same without the hauntingly erotic voice of Dina Rae. "Hailie's Song" - Proof that Eminem CAN sing. He sings this moving track for his daughter Hailie and cuts down a fraction on the swearing. A great dad! "When The Music Stops" - D12 throw in a great appearance and help Eminem show what beeing in the spotlight is all about. A thumping beat and very fast lyrics on Eminems behalf. As usual Bizzare has a few disturbing ideas at the end. "Say What You Say" - Eminems founder and homie Dr Dre. Eminem and Dre have everlasting souls. And they want the world to know that it will be impossible to forget them. A great tongue twisting chourus by Eminem. "Till I Collapse" - Sounds remarkably like "Another One Bites The Dust" by Queen. Fast paced and in your face. It hits you real hard, but you just cant get enough. "My Dads Gone Crazy" - Eminem is joined by his cute daughter Hailie for the final part of this epic album. Lots of swearing and emotion towards Marsh's mom and Daughter. If you decide to go town today. You will be stupid to walk past this CD. It's a must even if your not a profound Eminem Fan.
Free Music Review: Eminem's style is flawless especially on the Eminem show! Hit: 5 Stars
Eminem gives a more serious album & the beats are more entertaining then those from his other albums. Every song on this cd is just slightly better then from his other albums. & more importantly, the songs don't get boring. You may not agree with me but I found this to be one of the best rap cds because he changes his rap style for the different songs on this CD & hardly any of them sound similar except Without Me that sounds like The Real Slim Shady & Just Loose It. I'll take a look at each song here, not the skits though:
White America- 4.5/5 He attacks Bush & I'm not a big fan of Bush myself but I found this song has a unique rap style to it & is quite entertaining!
Business- 4.5/5 Basic rap Eminem song, it's fun to listen to!
Cleaning Out My Closet- 5/5 He attacks both his parents in this song & if I had parents like that, I'd probably do the same. I can understand where he's coming from on this & that's why I give it 5 cause it is a catchy song!
Square Dance- 4/5 If it wasn't obvious before that he hates Bush, I think it is now! It's a cool song, different from his usual but that's what I like about it!
Soldier- 5/5 One of my fav songs of his! it's very serious & the skit builds up alot of tension for the song! It's just fantastic!
Say Goodbye to Hollywood- 5/5 It's catchy! He's fed up with Hollywood & wants out, well if rapping about helps then feel free cause the song is just great!
Drips- 3/5 Find this song kinda pointless & stupid but it's not bad. I've heard worse in my time.
Without Me- 4/5 it sounds like a couple of songs I mentioned before but I like all of them cause their fun to listen to & dance to!
Sing for the Moment- 5/5 taken from Aerosmith of course but it's a very serious song & makes some very interesting points & is one of his more meaningful songs! I love this song!
Superman- 4.5/5 It's funny, sexy & just a great song!
Hailie's Song- 4/5 I give them props for attempting to sing cause he admits he's not very good at it but I didn't mind listening to his softer side! Good job anyway! the rap part is the best though, lol!
When the Music Stops- 5/5 The song alone, makes it worthwhile to buy this album! plus the skit before it is just funny! the rapping is just flawless! LOVE IT!!
Say What You Say- 5/5 Didn't care much for this song at first, thought it went on too long but now is one of my favs! it's cool! Dr. Dre has been around a while & it's songs like this that make me understand why!
Til' I Collapse- 5/5 Eminem raps while spitting practically the whole thing! & that's I like so much about his rap style, he tries different things! this song is absolutely amazing!
My Dad's Gone Crazy- 5/5 It's funny as hell, catchy & a great way to end the cd!
Slim Shady was a legend! too bad he retired cause this to me, was memorable & if you want to get any of his cds, I recommend THE EMINEM SHOW! GET IT TODAY!
