Free Music Notes for The Eminem ShowFree Music Review: is it his best yet? Hit: 5 Stars
I'd say this is tied with MMlp, SSlp a little way behind. This is a great cd where just about every song is good, and the excellent ones make up for the bad ones. I would say 9/10 BUY IT!!!! 1.Intro-I would have preferred another psa, where he says 'yeah. arrest me' but o well no big deal 2.White America- Great 'Way i am' style song where he looks at what his skin has done for and to him, and where he yells @#$% you America! 8.5/10 3.Business- Great flow and an awesome beat make this one of my favorites. 9/10 4.Cleanin Out My Closet- This is obviously a big song emotionwise, but i just can't get into it. 7/10 5.Square Dance- Kind of weird but good song. I just hate the way he says 'scurred', that always annoys me. 8/10 6.The Kiss- Not bad, not bad, but could be better. 6/10 7.Soldier- Very good song i like a lot. he literally spits the last verse at you. 8/10 8.Sayin Goodbye To Hollywood- He talks about how he wants to take it all back, he sold his soul to the devil, he wanted to give hailie the life he never had, but he forced them to be alienated. Pretty good and obviously full of feeling.8/10 9.Drips-Totally gross and Obie is annoying. Not great.6.5/10 10.Without me-Em, did you have to do another My Name Is clone? That said, nice song. 7.8/10 11.Paul-*sighs* Another boring Paul Skit.3/10 12.Sing For The Moment- Another song looking at his career, with an awesome sampling of aerosmith's dream on. One of the best on the album.9/10 13.Superman- The chorus is too long and it's just overall not that good.6/10 14.Hailie's Song- Awwww. Em can't sing, but you can't help but fall in love with this one. Awwww.8.5/10 15.Steve Berman- If you've heard the first one, this'll bring a smile on your face. If you haven't, he basically bags on how MMlp is a piece of $#!*. 16.When The Music Stops- Nearly as good as Under The Influence(MMlp) but Proof and Bizarre bring it down by rapping terribly.8/10 17.Say What You Say- Why does everybody like this? It's my least favorite song on the cd. It's clunky and the flow is terrible.5/10 18.Till I Collapse- Great fight song with a thumping beat and a catchy chorus from Nate.8.5/10 19.My Dad's Gone Crazy- Nice flow and Hailie sounds cute.8/10 20.Curtains Close- A HAH! Just when you thought there would be no Ken Kaniff! At least all he wants you to do is rub is back...
Free Music Review: His best to date Hit: 5 Stars
I had loved the Slim Shady LP and Marshall Mathers LP before Eminem Show had been released. I was looking forward to it because I knew he was not going to miss. After listening to this straight through and loving every minute of it, my opinion about his first 2 lp's slowly started to change. Not in a bad way, but in a way that shows that Eminem has outdone himself once again.Without a doubt, this is Eminem's best cd out of his 3 LPs. Taking the reins on his album, he does the majority of the producing. You can see his obvious growth from his previous two albums to this one because he has left the gay-bashing and wife-killing lyrics on the shelf this time. Instead he takes a stand on political issues (White America), hip hop's issues ("Hip hop is in a state of 911" from the song Business), women issues (Superman) as well as his own issues (Soldier, Say Goodbye to Hollywood). The hit singles "Without Me", "Sing for the Moment", and "cleanin' out my closet" kept him on top of the charts for pretty much all of 2002 and part of 2003. You can tell from a few songs that he still has issues with his mother and Kim, as they are mentioned in several verses. Em tries to take a stab at singing in "Hailie's Song" and while he's no American Idol, the song was still enough to touch me. An angry delivery ensues in my favorite track "Till I Collapse" where Em spits angry grimy lyrics. The last "controversial" track if you can call it that is called "My Dad's Gone Crazy". I've seen some reviews that said Eminem is a bad influence over his daughter for including her in a song with those kinds of lyrics. Obviously nobody has heard of audio editing where he inserted his daughter's vocals into the song. Now that I've put that ballot to rest, moving on to "Sing for the Moment" which uses the sample of "Dream on" by Aerosmith. Sing is another great song with more real lyrics from Eminem. "Say what you say" is probably the weakest effort along with "Drips" but these below average tracks are not nearly enough to bring down this 5 star album. Eminem needs to ditch these clowns he is hanging around with (50 cent, G-unit, d12, obie trice, etc) and go solo. Eminem himself is powerful enough to carry a label. He doesn't need anyone. In any event, whether you love him or hate him, there is no denying his lyrical as well as his production talent in this album.

Everyone giving Eminem one or two stars has a problem. Eminem is a Hall of Famer in rap. And don't get it twisted like I'm some Eminem fan that listens to only Eminem and Rock N Roll. Cuz I probably know more about rap than you do. I just hate when I see somebody come on here calling the man whack when he isn't. Eminem changed rap in his own way rather you like it or mutha f****** not. Peace
Free Music Review: The negative reviews Hit: 5 Stars
I love how all of the people who wrote negative reviews on the album have NEVER ACTUALLY EVEN HEARD IT. They're totally spouting off about ish they know nothing about. And the thing is--they're all WHITE.
It's amazing. The only people that have this hatred for Eminem are white (aside from Benzino, and his actual race is debatable too). If you were to ask all black hip-hop fans about Eminem, around 98% would respond with "he's one of the best in the game." And that would be that.
But no, we get these white people who claim to be hip hop fans who love to rip into Em and say he "sold out" or has "gone pop." Uh...I admit I don't like the fact that he's willing to appear on MTV either, but then you'd best believe TUPAC would do the same thing if he were alive today and offered the opportunity--money is money. As Nas said in "Hate Me Now,"
"What can I do but keep making money?/Funny I was just like you/I had to hustle hard, never give up..."
That song pretty much tells the story of all the TALENTED mainstream rappers--Nas, Eminem, Jay-Z, etc. What do you want them to do, stay underground forever?
Anyway, I get a kick out of all the "all he does is talk about killing his wife and girlfriend." HUH? When has he EVER talked about that? He implied it on ONE SONG several years ago in the Slim Shady LP, the track "Bonnie and Clyd '97." I guess since it's a class, it sticks out in everyone's mind, and now they think that's all Eminem ever does when he NEVER does it. Does he talk about them? Yes, of course. But Tupac talked about his mom all the time and nobody complained. Em had a tenuous relationship with his mother--sorry he doesn't write tracks like "Dear Momma" all the time.
You want real lyricism and to see the power of rap music, listen to Sing for the Moment and Till I Collapse from this album. The thing about Eminem is that he has a variety of songs, but on every album there's a few very potent ones, and those two tracks can alter anyone's mood. From past albums, listen to Rock Bottom (if you haven't heard this track your life isn't complete), If I Had, It's OK (Infinite), The Way I Am, Lose Yourself, 8 Mile Road, and Stimulate. Of course, that's just a quick rundown of Eminem's finest work.
Free Music Review: Arguably Eminem's best....Certainly his most versatile.... Hit: 5 Stars
On his third commercially released album, Eminem is at his most personal... He talks about many things and people in many different ways... On the track "Cleanin Out My Closet" he talks to his mum. Someone who he obviously cares for, but at the same time has hate for, "Cleanin Out My Closet" was produced by Eminem himself and a very eerie beat is what he concocts, it goes perfect with his flow... Another one of the many 'personal' tracks on the LP is "White America" a rock influenced aggressive song taking shots at the U.S government amongst other things. Like quite a large amount of songs on this album this track has a sort of "rock / rap" feel about it.. Eminem's lyrics & flow are incredible here. "Business" is one of the few Dr. Dre produced cuts on the album, and this track wouldn't be out of place on Eminem's debut commercial album [The Slim Shady LP].. It features the return of Slim Shady the commedian, and also has Dre's best beat on the whole album. A standout track is "Sing For The Moment" this song samples the classic rock track "Dream On" by Aerosmith.. Eminem spits three of his hottest verses ever, very politcal and consciensus Hip Hop on this track right here... Another track worth mentioning is "Say What You Say" which features Dr. Dre - who also produces this song - Although I don't personally like the song, The 2 rapppers take shots at commercial Producer/Rapper/Executive Jermaine Dupri.. The album isn't very guest filled, but the rest of D12 step-up their game on "When The Music Stops" a great track about the thin-line between music and reality... New Shady Records signee and Detroit based MC Obie Trice appears on the comic "Drips" a great verse by Obie followed by an -as always- excellent verse by Slim ensue one of the my fave songs on the album... What some may find about The Eminem Show is that the production doesn't stand-out, It just plays along in the background backing up Eminem's venemous words...3 Tracks are produced by west-coast super producer Dr. Dre and the rest are produced by Eminem, with a little help from others [Mel - Man etc]... So, overall an incredible album from Eminem which is very personal and should definetly appeal to the hardcore rap fans, as well as the 11/12 year old's...Final Rating: 9/10
